Last week, the Women of Walsh (WOW) Group organized a powerful self-defense course conducted by Impact Boston. This training equipped us with essential self-defense techniques, assertive communication strategies, and conflict de-escalation skills through hands-on scenarios. The practical nature of the workshop allowed all participants to actively engage and apply the learnings. We are excited about adding this workshop to the diverse range of programming and events for the WOW Group. We are thrilled about the positive feedback we had and are eager to incorporate similar sessions in our future offerings. As always, the best part was enjoying a meal and many laughs together afterwards to catch up and reflect on our evening. Stay tuned for more enriching initiatives as we strive to empower and support each other within the WOW Group. #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #womenofwalsh

  • Walsh Brothers is proud and excited to continue our support and sponsorship in 2024 of Massachusetts Girls in Trades Conferences for both Eastern and Central/Western MA. We were excited to meet over 400 female students at the Eastern Conference and over 200 at the Western Conference (with Commodore Builders) this month to share information on careers in union construction trades and information about the Construction Industry in general.  Each year these conferences grow and we remain inspired by the enthusiasm and commitment of the MA Girls in Trades franchise, the schools that participate in this event and of course the students we speak with at the events.

  • In recognition of Construction Inclusion Week, Walsh Brothers is proud to highlight the ongoing efforts of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Established in 2021, our Diversity Committee is composed of nine employees representing various departments, all dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion both within our organization and across the construction industry.   Meeting biweekly, the committee reviews the progress of our DEI objectives and initiatives. Key efforts include hosting Walsh Brothers MBE/UBE and Supplier Diversity Outreach Events, actively participating in the AGC MA Building Advancement Externship Week, and helping to lead outreach programs at schools like Mattahunt Elementary, where we share with students career opportunities in construction. Additionally, we are proud sponsors and participants of several industry programs that align with our efforts, including the MA Girls in Trades Eastern and Central/Western Conferences, which encourage young women to pursue careers in the trades.   Walsh Brothers is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and our Diversity Committee helps lead these efforts for us. Walsh Brothers remains dedicated to working alongside our industry partners so that together, we can achieve our goal of a more diverse construction industry.
