Wrapping up #CareerTours for this year, we were able to squeeze in one more for Edmonds School District last week thanks to our awesome partners. Students not only got a behind-the-scenes tour of a favorite local radio station, KEXP, they were also able to try out various elements of audio/video production first hand at The Vera Project/Ground Zero Radio and learn about #Internships available while they are still in high school!

Thank you Computing For All for your amazing partnership! It was great to see you at Showcase of Success!
Kudos to Washington Alliance for Better Schools (WABS) for their annual Showcase of Success event last week at Sodo Park by Herban Feast featuring guest speaker Governor Christine Gregoire. It was very inspiring to hear stories of how WABS is supporting students in King and Pierce counties and building partnerships with families. Washington Alliance for Better Schools builds students’ 21st Century skills through industry and community partnerships, particularly for those students impacted by systemic racism, and provides career connected learning opportunities across the K-12 educational spectrum to prepare students to succeed in the global economy. Thank you for your partnership Emily Yim (She I Her), John Bonner and Christina Castorena, M.Ed. #careerconnectedlearning

We love hearing about folks in the community who are impacting students and getting them excited about STEM through our after school programming! 👏 🔬
I had the opportunity to work with Washington Alliance for Better Schools and Kent School District by coordinating and facilitating a four week program meant for young students. I was able to teach certain mechanical engineering (STEM) methods and measures by having these students work together to build a frog trap! This motivated and taught self management, social engagement, and self efficacy. A big thank you to Harveen Kaur for helping me and supervising everything. Another big thank you to Mal Galbreath for guiding me as well!

Thank you for joining us last night, and for your ongoing partnership and support!
Tonight, Heidi Jackson & I attended the Washington Alliance for Better Schools (WABS) Gala: Opening Doors to Opportunity 🗝️. These last two years, we have been honored to work with WABS and Genevieve Meyer, MA, MSW to host career tours for high school students at SEATTLE CENTER. But tonight, we learned about WABS' other programs and work, which includes the After School STEM Academy for elementary students 🧑🏫 WABS is doing amazing work & you can support them by hosting career tours or by making a donation today! If you have questions about how to host a career tour, feel free to reach out to Genevieve or myself! ❤️ 🎁 Donate: https://lnkd.in/g4843iPA

Thanks to the Kaiser Permanente team for all your support. It was wonderful to see you at the event, and we can't wait to continue to partner with you to bring opportunity to students in Washington!
I had a great night connecting with my dear colleagues Chris F. Villanueva, Rosett Botello, and Ali M. Thomas at the Washington Alliance for Better Schools annual Showcase of Success event. Kaiser Permanente’s partnership with WABS has been unique in that we partner in so many ways. It’s a privilege to be able to leverage different functional areas at Kaiser Permanente Washington to support their vision to bring equity to every school and opportunities for every student.
