Thank you, Alex Morgan - a legend on and off the pitch. “I am so proud of my accomplishments on the pitch. My dream at a young age was to play professional soccer. I’ve achieved more than I could ever have imagined through the game, and as proud as I am of my soccer career, I’m equally proud of what I’ve fought for and helped build off the pitch. Pay equity. Player safety. Visibility and storytelling.…When people talk about my legacy, I hope they remember that, too. And while this chapter may be ending, a new one is just beginning.” - Alex Morgan #TeamWass | #WeAreTheCollective

Following a successful #ParisOlympics that raised the profiles of women athletes, Thayer Lavielle, Managing Director, The Collective, spoke to Campaign Asia-Pacific about the need for brands to seize this moment to invest in women's sports long-term and provide these transcendent athletes with the proper partnership opportunities that will cause them to dominate on and off the field for years to come. Thayer said, “What the global event proved, once again, was that women athletes are superstars in their own right — in their abilities and in marketing. If marketing leaders can see elements of their brands in these athletes’ stories of personal and team triumph, now is the time to spark partnership discussions that will bring their values to life in future games.” Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/dn3dP9fU

Last month, our Mass Participation team concluded the 2024 Outlaw Triathlon series at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham, UK. Taking place annually, the Outlaw Triathlon series brings together people from across the UK to take part in several multi-sport races over the course of multiple weekends. There were many highlights during the season, including holding the team’s first ever cycling and running events on gravel at the breathtaking Holkham Hall. The team also organised their first ever Outlaw Sprint Triathlon event in May on the Outlaw Half Nottingham weekend, which was held to encourage new people to get into the triathlon at a more affordable price and manageable distance. British racing driver Billy Monger also joined us in May to complete the Outlaw Half Nottingham in preparation for his next extreme challenge to raise funds for UK charity Comic Relief. Check out the imagery below for a few highlights from the races.

“If you don’t own your own web presence, and have the ability to really create your brand identity, not just with the visual, but all touch points… you are at the whim of Facebook, TikTok, or any of the other channels.” As brands prioritize social media and pivot away from traditional websites, Graham Lubie, VP, Digital Strategy & Delivery, shares with The Drum why such a strategy leaves brands vulnerable to the platforms they utilize.
