What do Pillsbury and the Apollo space mission have to do with recycled water? At #WateReuse25, Troy Walker delivered a presentation explaining how NASA partnered with Pillsbury to prevent foodborne illness in astronauts. The result? The development of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system—a rigorous safety framework still used today in advanced water recycling treatment. From space food to safe water, this legacy of innovation helps ensure the water we recycle meets the highest public health standards.
