Incredible work from the entire Olympic & Hill team in downtown LA. Thank you to Webcor Concrete Sr. Construction Manager Mike Gilmore for sharing this amazing achievement and powerful photos! #BuildWithWebcor
Working at Webcor is always an adventure, and last week at Olympic + Hill was no exception. Our team successfully installed what we’ve come to affectionately call the “Dorito Chip” – two massive, triangular wings soaring 590 feet above street level. These wings, jutting dramatically from the top of the structure, required meticulous planning to ensure both safety and precision of installation. To minimize the risk of dropping anything from such heights, we opted to precast the wings and install them separately from the cast-in-place walls. This decision took months of collaboration with the design team and general contractor, and last week, all that planning paid off. Our crews flawlessly and safely secured both “Dorito Chips” at the top of the building. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the entire team—from Foremen and Project Engineers to Superintendents and Vice Presidents. It took a collective effort to bring this ambitious vision to life. A huge congratulations to everyone involved for accomplishing something truly extraordinary. We’ve proven once again that nothing is out of reach for this team, and now, we can proudly add structural precast to our resume! #webcor

Thank you to all our safety/field leaders who led honest, vulnerable conversations on mental wellness in the workplace during Construction Suicide Prevention Week last week. Discussion topics included our industry's alarmingly high suicide rate, stigma reduction around mental illnesses, the power of active listening, and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. As we strive to address the underlying issues contributing to suicides in the construction industry, we urge all industry leaders to prioritize building trust, empathy, and open communication with their teams. Together, we can create supportive networks in which all construction professionals feel comfortable seeking help when they need it most. Every conversation has the potential to save a life.

Verde, our 23-story mixed-use tower in San Francisco’s Mission Rock neighborhood is open! Located at the heart of the new Mission Rock waterfront neighborhood, Verde is designed to embrace the city’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle with generous terraces and direct connections to China Basin Park, a new 5-acre public park designed by SCAPE Landscape Architecture DPC. Named for its distinctive, green-colored glazed ceramic cladding, Verde combines a range of uses across 23 stories. At ground level, a café, shops, and micro-activations offer vibrant social spaces for the new neighborhood, while upper floors host a co-working office and lounge space. Addressing the city’s need for new and more affordable housing options, 59 of the 254 units in Verde are designated for middle income households at below market rate. Verde is the fourth and final building to be completed in Mission Rock's first phase, guided by a set of design principles that Studio Gang developed as the leader of a design cohort that also included MVRDV, Henning Larsen, and WORKac.
