You won't want to miss the next WellRead book club. We'll be discussing "Hidden Valley Road" by Robert Kolker. Back in the 1950s and 60s, an American family had 12 children in all, with six of 10 boys developing schizophrenia. It's a well-written and well-researched book that explores the genetic-environmental factors associated with many mental illnesses; demonstrates the ways in which mental illness affects the entire family; highlights early misguided treatments; and confronts the painful stigmas we still see today. We'll meet on Oct. 17th at HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Open to all, but space is limited so sign up today! Thanks a latte, Honest Coffee Roasters. ☕ Karen Petersen, our Director of Development and Lisa Ceci, a dear friend and mental health advocate, tried out Honest Coffee's special seasonal drink: the Ginger Spice Split latte. 😍 💚 Order this citrus-ginger drink (hot or iced!) this month. Your taste buds will dance 💃 AND Honest will donate 10 percent of proceeds from this special drink to WellStone to support #Suicide Prevention. Thanks to Christy Wimberly, Corey Wimberly, Caleb Setzer, and team for your compassion and support! #mentalhealth #youarenotalone #suicideprevention #988Lifeline

WellStone is grateful to our Veterans for their service and sacrifice. We are also honored that our CEO, Jeremy Blair, will serve on the Alabama Veterans Mental Health Steering Committee.
I am honored to be appointed as a member of the Alabama Veterans Mental Health Steering Committee. We have important work ahead of us as we review existing resources, determine how to better coordinate those resources and identify gaps in serving the mental health and substance use needs of our veterans. I look forward to working with fellow committee members over the coming months. https://lnkd.in/dfES96px
