We are committed to ensuring that our communities have access to safe and clean water and were honored to be able to highlight the work we have been doing to meet these goals across our service area at this month’s chapter meeting of California Special Districts Association’s Association of San Bernardino County Special Districts. We were honored to have Representative Norma Torres join us as our guest speaker to highlight her bill, the Removing Nitrate and Arsenic in Drinking Water Act. Her tireless advocacy to ensure access to clean and safe water directly aligns with our District’s commitment to our customers and community.

It’s National Backflow Prevention Day! 🚰 🎉 Backflow is the undesirable reversal of water flow in a piping system, which can lead to contamination of our drinking water. Today, we celebrate our dedicated cross-connection specialist who work hard to prevent these issues, including managing over 3,000 backflow devices. Their expertise in maintaining and inspecting these devices is crucial in ensuring our water remains safe and reliable. Join us in thanking them for their commitment to our safety! 💧💙 #NationalBackflowPreventionDay #waterquality #mywvwd

Thank you Municipal Water Leader for highlighting all the new and exciting projects and programs at West Valley Water District.💧
Check out our article on John Thiel forging a new path at West Valley Water District from our September issue. Last year, John Thiel took the reins as general manager of West Valley Water District (WVWD), which serves over 100,000 customers in a fast-growing area of the Inland Empire located 40 minutes east of Los Angeles. In this interview, he talks with Municipal Water Leader about the district’s new strategic plan and some of the projects it has underway, including a major expansion of its water treatment plant. When it is completed next year, that project will allow the district to rely more heavily on surface water when it’s abundant, giving the area’s wells and groundwater basins a chance to recover so they will be readily available during drought periods. https://bit.ly/4fC5PP6 #MunicipalWater #MunicipalWaterLeader #WVWD #InlandEmpireWater #CaliforniaWater #Groundwater

Last Friday, WVWD's Board of Directors and staff attended the Building Industry Association of Southern California 2024 Southern California Water Conference. During this fantastic event, WVWD engaged with regional leaders on critical topics, including the future of water reliability and the importance of regional collaboration. Our Board had the opportunity to listen to key speakers, such as the Secretary of the California Natural Resource Agency, Wade Crowfoot, and many other leaders dedicated to protecting our water supply's future. Our team is very thankful to be a part of these important conversations as we actively strive to meet the needs of our future. 💧#regionalpartners #waterreliability
