REMEMBER the fallen; HONOR those who serve; TEACH future generations the value of freedom. Overview: What began in 1992 with a trailer load of 5,000 wreaths, placed by volunteers and laid at the graves of servicemembers laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery has now become a national organization with over 4.200 participating locations, with more than 3 million volunteers – a third of who are children – who support the yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom.

We are proud to announce the Wreaths Across America theme for 2025: “Keep Moving Forward.” This year’s theme was inspired by the last words of Captain Joshua Byers, United States Army, KIA, in Fallujah, Iraq, July 23, 2003. Joshua was the Company Commander of Fox Troop in the 2/3ACR service in Iraq in 2003 when an IED struck his Humvee. As the smoke filled the air, Josh gave his driver a last command: “…keep moving forward.” Though Josh didn’t make it home, this command saved lives and became a battle cry for his unit and family. Today Wreaths Across America joins family and friends in celebrating the life and remarkable accomplishments of Holocaust survivor, Luna Kaufman, who passed at the end of December. When the Nazi’s invaded Poland during World War II, Luna and her family were uprooted, separated, and sent into the “ghettos.” In her book, Luna’s Life, A journey of Forgiveness and Triumph she recounts her family’s story in the Nazi Concentration Camps. She endured great suffering and loss yet lived an extraordinary life filled with gratitude and compassion. Her mission was to teach tolerance and we’re forever grateful to her for the lessons she shared with us through the years. Among Luna’s greatest enduring legacies is her work establishing the creation of the Liberation Monument at Liberty State Park in New Jersey that depicts a holocaust survivor being carried by a soldier; a “liberator” of the camps. Wreaths Across America continues to visit the monument as we remember, honor, and teach. Additionally, Luna was dedicated to the teachings of Sister Rose Thering and Seton Hall University. Rest in peace, Luna. We are eternally grateful for your kindness and your teachings, but most importantly for your friendship.
