Thirty associations representing the multi-brand vehicle aftermarket in Australia (Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association), Brazil (ANDAP - Associação Nacional dos Distribuidores de Autopeças), Canada (Automotive Industries Association of Canada), Colombia (ASOPARTES), India (ACMA India), South Africa (MIWA, Retail Motor Industry Organisation, Right to Repair South Africa, TEPA: Tyres, Equipment, Parts Association), the USA (Auto Care Association, Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI), MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers), and from almost twenty European countries, as well as European associations representing their sectors at European Union’s level (ADPA - Automotive Data Publishers Association, CECRA, CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers, EGEA - European Garage Equipment Association aisbl, FIGIEFA - Automotive Aftermarket Distributors), have gathered in Frankfurt during #Automechanika 2024, for the Right to Repair Global meeting (R2RG). Over the years, the R2RG meeting has increasingly become a crucial platform for dialogue and collaboration among the associations representing the multi-brand #automotive #aftermarket worldwide. More than just a gathering, this forum actively shapes the future of the industry. A central focus includes addressing common challenges. A significant challenge is for example the need to maintain unrestricted access to Repair and Maintenance Information (RMI), technical information, and the freedom to use tools and spare parts. With the advent of #digitalisation and the emergence of software-defined vehicle, new concerns have arisen, including access to in-vehicle generated #data, the vehicle’s operational functions and resources, the growing absence of repair information for #ElectricVehicle #batteries, and the increasing issue of parts captivity. In this context, vehicle manufacturers gain a competitive advantage by controlling the data generated by vehicles. This control impacts the quantity and quality of information available to independent service providers, ultimately limiting digital opportunities for the businesses and restricting the #freedom of #choice for the #consumers. The participants agreed on the urgent need for a fair playing and robust legislative backing to address these challenges across various regions of the world. Effective #enforcement measures are essential to ensure that all stakeholders adhere more closely to automotive regulations. https://lnkd.in/eNgZxbcJ

The Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) is an industry association with a national footprint, representing car component manufacturers, auto accessories and replacement part wholesalers and distributors as well as service and repair workshops. Through the AAAA and with the support of the Victorian Government and Australian Government they operate a collaborative space known as the Auto Innovation Centre (AIC). The AIC is designed to bring industry together to promote the adoption of new technologies and provide testing services to ensure product compliance to Australian Design Rules. Tim Matheson and Parry Serafim toured the facility with CEO Stuart Charity and they were particularly interested to check out the new all-electric Ford Motor Company F-150 Lightning. Discussions focused on existing and emerging skills needed by auto technicians, the importance of consistency between state government jurisdictions and the cost implications to local businesses looking to upskill their workforce. Australian parts and accessories manufacturers are well positioned to capitalise on a transitioning sector, driven in part by the forecast uptake of electric vehicles. #poweringaustralia #energytransition #electricvehicles #jobsandskills

IAA TRANSPORTATION is in the books - therefore time for a quick personal review - "carrying a better future" or caring for the future does only work if transportation becomes electric - so far so good so obvious - German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) counted 145 world premiers at IAA TRANSPORTATION this year which is an impressive number and shows the capability to be innovative of that industry - but when it comes to mobile online services for electric commercial vehicles and how the industry wants to start its way in a more digitized future our diconium market analysis shows still not only room for improvement but quite a tremendous area of better customer oriented approaches - customers (fleet operators, dispatchers, fleet manager, drivers, etc.) who gave us feedback during our market analysis clearly stated the wish and desire for an integrated system approach - let's work on this together in order to shape a more customer oriented and efficient transportation landscape in which mobile online services make everyday's life in transportation easier - not more complicated #WeAreDiconium #CommercialVehicles #DigitalServices #IAATransportation
