🌍 Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a time to reclaim our narratives and promote positive racial identity, especially in diverse communities. #Mentalhealth is deeply intertwined with the stories we tell and those that have been silenced or distorted. These stories, when shared, empower others and bring healing. By challenging stigmas and breaking down cultural barriers, we can reshape the conversation around #mentalhealth. Afrikindness will be hosting a Community Leaders Workshop in #Leeds to lead meaningful discussions on mental health. The focus will be on cultural and religious barriers, community challenges, and actionable steps for improvement. 📅 Date: October 12th, 2024 ⏰ Time: 10 AM - 12 PM 🔗 Register here:- https://lnkd.in/eGC6nhVM Our expert speakers are 📍 Dr Emi Obode, Consultant Psychiatrist NHS 📍 Melissa Mukotekwa-Ngara, Nutritionist & Director, African Ventures CIC 📍 Dr Chinwe Utomi, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Sponsored by: ChangeX, The National Lottery Community Fund Join us as we take steps toward a healthier, more inclusive future. #WorldMentalHealthDay2024 #Selfcare #RacialIdentity #ReclaimingNarratives #BlackHistoryMonth2024 #MentalHealth Forum Central Mental Health Foundation

What is World Mental Health Day? ‘’World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. This year’s theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is workplace mental health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.’’ Mental Health Foundation ‘On World Mental Health Day, let’s all come together to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. Talking about our mental health can help us cope better with life’s ups and downs. So, on World Mental Health Day and beyond it, why not check in with your friends, family, peers, or colleagues?’ Mental Health Foundation

Amazing line up of speakers. Looking forward to the session.
