In a new op-ed for Alliance magazine Agroecology Fund Co-Director Daniel Moss calls for an increase in funding to grassroots agroecology movements from #climatephilanthropy “The world sits in a precarious place, and deepening investments in grassroots movements that build truly just and sustainable food systems is essential. We call on the greater climate philanthropy community to seize this moment and dramatically increase funding of grassroots movements whose work is rooted in research and learning processes that result in effective solutions for local contexts. Without funding frontline communities, we fear that our efforts to build climate resilient food systems will be thwarted.” https://lnkd.in/gYeycybP
For those involved in climate solutions and the philanthropy that supports it, this article brings an important strategic perspective: pouring resources into grassroots agroecological movements catalyzes locally attuned and Nature Positive solutions for regenerative agriculture, feeding people, and drawing carbon out of the atmosphere and back into our soils where it should be! Thank you, Agroecology Fund, for leading in this way!

Without a doubt, investment in agroecological initiatives will accelerate a sustainable food system that will increase food security, economic viability and fair opportunities for farmers. Far beyond regenerating degraded ecosystems, agroecology is a means of ensuring an economically viable participatory system that perpetuates good agricultural and regenerative practices and that provides opportunities for peasant and indigenous communities to prosper in a fair and sustainable way, preserving their ancestral knowledge.
