Dear All, I would like invite you to join us, either in presence or remotely, at this fourth wide-audience meeting on quantum technologies , organized by CRS4 as part of the CTE Cagliari DLAB project. on September 23 at MEM at 5:45 pm. You can sign up for the event at the link https://lnkd.in/ditTAyf3 After the institutional greetings by Lidia Leoni, our colleague Lorenzo Pisani who will offer an in-depth talk on quantum optimization methods for transportation that CRS4 is developing as part of the CTE Cagliari Digital Lab project. Here is a brief abstract of his talk: Optimizing the routing of a service, such as package delivery, garbage collection or urban transportation, is as useful in terms of saving time, fuel and means as computationally complex. In this talk we will show how such problems can be addressed by quantum computing. Given the rapidly growing trend of quantum processors, we expect that this work can bring, in a short-term perspective, substantial benefits to the community. Next, we will have as our guests Maria Salluzzo and Michela Mari from Open Campus, which supports CRS4 in organizing the “Quantum Code Challenge” event among the initiatives planned under the CTE-Cagliari Digital Lab Project framework. With their intervention, a synopsis of this hackathon initiative that will take place entirely online from October 22 to 25, a breakdown of the challenges proposed to participants and how to participate will be proposed. During my speech I will illustrate the #EUQuantumTechnologyRoadmap (with a focus on the #QuantumFlagship, including statistics of overall EU funding for quantum), the unfolding of the #EuropeanQuantumDeclaration, and the new #STEP (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) initiative to boost investment in critical technologies.

Three outstanding ideas that convinced our jury: ▶ Hula Earth - Biodiversity Monitoring with Satellites and IoT Sensors: The most accurate and scalable biodiversity data platform to enable companies to accurately quantify the impact of their business activities in light of forthcoming EU disclosing regulations. ▶ Panda Insight - VitalFusion: The service provider that links health and climate data to reduce absenteeism, behavioural diseases and health problems caused by climate change. ▶ TALOS GmbH - Harnessing Animals' Intelligence from Space: A new technology solution to derive commercial benefits from the advanced senses and instincts of animals - expressed through their movements and behaviours - to optimise, for example, weather services, agricultural research or biodiversity protection. 🌍 On Saturday, Daniele Valiante, Agronomist & Biodiversity Strategist at 3Bee, was a guest at the Pianeta Terra Festival in Lucca alongside Findus Italia (Nomad Foods) during the event "Biodiversity between Sea and Land". Together we explored the balance between human activities and the preservation of natural resources, focusing on the impact of marine and terrestrial #biodiversity on the future of our planet and the key role that companies have to play in this scenario. 🌱 In terms of biodiversity, starting this year we have developed a project with Findus Italia (Nomad Foods) for the #monitoring, protection and regeneration of biodiversity. Thanks to Flora technology, in collaboration with the European Space Agency - ESA, satellite images and artificial intelligence will be used to analyse biodiversity on 1,000 hectares of land. Meanwhile, IoT sensors called Spectrum detect the presence and types of #pollinators through the vibrations emitted by insects as they fly.
