"PayPal told me to install AnyDesk" 🤔 Have you ever been asked to download an app by a seemingly legitimate company? Scammers often use this tactic to gain remote access to your device and steal your personal information or perform unauthorised transactions. 💻📲💰 Recently, we learned of a customer who fell victim to a scam like this... A fraudster impersonating PayPal convinced them to download remote access software (AnyDesk), which allowed them to attempt a fraudulent $21,000 transaction. Luckily, our fraud detection system flagged the scam, and our fraud analyst was able to stop the fraudulent activity in its tracks. Well done team! Remember: ❗️ Legitimate companies and government organisations will never ask you to download an app for security purposes. ❗️ Be cautious of unsolicited calls or emails. ❗️ If you're unsure, verify the contact information directly through the organisation’s official website. Let's stay vigilant and protect ourselves from these scams. Share this post to help spread awareness! #ScamAwarenessWeek #shareyourstory #ScamsWeek24 AMP AMP Bank
