Check out Sean O'Malley in action addressing the important topic of how banks can better support Australian small businesses at the FST Media Future of Financial Services Conference in Sydney. This is the lens through which we’re building our new digital bank, on track to launch early in 2025. Exciting times ahead for AMP Bank!

I salute those who have the courage and dedication to start their own business.    Small businesses are the engine room of Australia’s economy and play such an important role in our local and regional communities.    Yet their failure rate remains astonishingly high – around 45% considered closing their doors in the past year.    Small businesses rely on banks – we are their primary and highest touch service provider, both through our technology and payment systems, and financing arrangements. But are we doing enough to support them?   I was fortunate to address this important topic at the FST Media Future of Financial Services conference last week in Sydney.   There is definitely more we can be doing – from offering more tailored and flexible financing, to providing technology solutions that ease what is often an overwhelming administrative burden.   This is the lens through which we’re building our new digital bank, on track to launch early in the new year. Last night, I was honoured to be awarded the UNSW Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional Alumni Achievement. I have very fond memories of studying at UNSW and the impact that it had on my view of the world and what I wanted from my career. While it feels like a long time ago now, it’s still a place that’s very close to my heart. It was a pleasure to share my journey with everyone at the ceremony and to accept the award. I left feeling excited for those current UNSW students and all of the opportunities that lay ahead for them.

This World Mental Health Day, it was a pleasure to have the Gidget Foundation Australia join us and share important information on perinatal challenges and struggles that many new or expecting parents may face. It's important that we encourage these conversations not only with family and friends, but with our colleagues in the workplace.   Thank you to the AMP Foundation for organising this fantastic event and raising awareness on this topic.   #AMPFoundation #WorldMentalHealthDay #GidgetFoundation

Today, the AMP Foundation hosted a powerful panel for 'World Mental Health Day'.   In recognition of this important day, we united for a compelling discussion on workplace wellbeing, with a special focus on perinatal challenges. In collaboration with the Gidget Foundation Australia, our panel shed light on the emotional and psychological struggles many new and expectant parents face.   Did you know? 1 in 5 new mums and 1 in 10 new dads experience Perinatal Depression & Anxiety, affecting over 100,000 Australian parents every year. These are real people in our workplaces, juggling personal challenges. Today’s panel shared valuable insights into the critical support systems available to help them navigate this journey.   By addressing these challenges, we are breaking down stigma and ensuring that parents across the country feel supported. This week, in particular, emphasises the importance of providing a safe space for open discussions within the workplace.   A heartfelt thank you to our panellists - Craig Anderson, Bec Anderson, Felicity Chandler, Lauren Allen, and to Sonja Mole, AMPlifiers Program Manager, for bringing this event to life. A special thanks to Rebecca Nash for your valuable insights, and to all the AMP employees who joined us today.   #AMPFoundation #WorldMentalHealthDay #AMPeople
