Something you should know about #hiv!  Undetectable = Untransmittable. What does it mean and how well is it understood by our societies today?  Undetectable equals Untransmittable (#u=u) means that under effective HIV therapy, the virus cannot be sexually transmitted. A recent multi-country HIV survey across #austria, #greece and #switzerland explored public awareness, understanding and acceptance of U=U. The results clearly showed a limited recognition of U=U in all three countries. This lack of knowledge is often accompanied by HIV-associated stigma, social distancing, and misperceptions about HIV transmission. 🔬🌍 Knowledge is power when it comes to HIV, and I am proud to be a Subject Matter Expert dedicating my life to raising awareness on this global health issue. Did you know that misconceptions and myths surrounding HIV still exist today? By educating ourselves and others, we can combat stigma, promote prevention, and support those living with HIV. 💡 As a subject matter expert, I've learned that understanding the facts is crucial. HIV is transmitted through certain bodily fluids, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. It cannot be transmitted through casual contact, sharing utensils, or mosquito bites. By sharing these facts, we can dispel fears and reduce discrimination. 🌟 Another crucial aspect of being a subject matter expert is advocating for safe sex practices and the use of preventive measures, such as condoms and regular testing. Promoting awareness about PrEP and PEP can help individuals protect themselves and their partners. 🤝 By offering a non-judgmental space for open conversations, we can help reduce the isolation and emotional burden that may accompany an HIV diagnosis.🙌 Together, let's break the silence and be a force for change! 💪 Join me on this journey of enlightenment and understanding. The South accounts for over half of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S., and it's vital that we address the unique challenges faced by our communities. * Why Focus on the South?
