Yesterday, nearly 300 community leaders, landowners, and Apexers gathered in Edenton, North Carolina, to celebrate the construction of Timbermill Wind with a turbine blade signing. Governor Roy Cooper joined us to share remarks about the importance of the economic impact of wind energy and to sign his name on one of the 242-foot long blades. The 189-megawatt facility is projected to generate up to $33 million in tax revenue in its lifetime to support local schools and government services, becoming Chowan County’s largest taxpayer during its first year of operations. Upon completion, Timbermill Wind will be the second wind farm ever built in the state and the first built since 2017. The project is less than four hours away from Apex’s home office, so this event gave our team the opportunity to see our company’s work firsthand.
