At COP28, all countries committed to doubling energy efficiency improvements by 2030. Did you know that, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), buildings offer over 40% of solutions needed to meet this commitment? Our own Jo da Silva DBE, Global Director of Sustainable Development, will be moderating a panel at the Buildings and Climate Global Forum this afternoon to discuss this very topic. The panel, entitled "Doubling Down on Energy Efficiency: A high-level dialogue on heating, cooling and passive design," will bring together ministers and industry leaders from around the globe to unpack the significant opportunity buildings present in delivering on these national commitments. Panellists include: Mr. Joel Arumonyang | Nasra Nanda | Jessica Grove-Smith | Tadao Kamei | Karan Mangotra | Lord Martin Callanan | Ms Nute Petrosyan | Paula Pinho | Vincent Minier #WeAreArup #ClimateAction #BuildForClimate
This is such an important opportunity to move towards a global consensus on improving energy efficiency. Which is a critical part of our journey to 1.5°C alignment. It has to be about policy as a means to drive transparency as a first step in my view.

8moImproving operational energy efficiency of buildings remains a very important topic, even while we also electrify and reduce embodied energy.
