Renewable (wind) energy and education… a value based proposition!
Exciting News! 🍃 We are pleased to announce our membership with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) in a shared mission for a sustainable future! "Our decision to join GWEC stems from our shared commitment to advancing wind power as the solution to today's energy challenges. This aligns seamlessly with our dedication to providing international education in renewable energy. As a global institution focused on renewable energy education, our mutual interests lie in advocating for the advantages of wind power. Through this collaboration, we aspire to contribute to and support GWEC's endeavors, fostering a collective commitment to addressing climate change. Furthermore, our membership provides us with the opportunity to actively engage and collaborate with industry peers, establishing partnerships across the entire value chain." says Rasmus Bartholomæussen, Chief Operating Officer of the Renewable Construction Academy. https://lnkd.in/gG44zTi6 https://lnkd.in/gntjeccC #RECOA #Renewableconstructionaceademy #educationforagreenerfuture #gwec #globalwindenergycouncil #offshorewind #renewableenergy

Exciting news for Wales! A recent study by RenewableUK Cymru reveals that onshore wind projects are already contributing over £6 million a year to Welsh communities, with the potential to grow to £20 million. This report, unveiled at the Future Energy Wales conference, emphasises the positive impact onshore wind projects can have on communities, highlighting the broader benefits beyond clean energy. Let's support and invest in these initiatives for a more sustainable future. #RenewableEnergy #WindEnergy #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #WENDYprojectEU https://lnkd.in/dUyju_Z9

And how about some strategic joined up thinking on things to do with this abundant cheep green energy other than just export it at cost to southern regions at great cost and transmission losses? As Europe continues on its transition away from coal and NG based energy demand for hydrogen and ammonia as a hydrogen carrier will grow in an accelerating fashion. Not to mention ammonia being a feedstock for fertilizer something which keeps growing in price annually. Stage one green power, stage two moleculise that green power for export at a value add price, stage three can we think of a few unloved chemical plants on the east coast adjacent to this offshore wind power that can handle this melecularisatuon? Stage four now that we have a critical mass of localised green power use and molecularisation how about transforming it into another tier in the value chain ;- synthetic fuels, plastics, green steel and aluminum, or eventually even finished goods that use these raw materials. Yes a long term vision but one that captures the total value of the UK natural resources rather than short term consumption and waste of these resources with no value add!
Superb news to start the week! Green Volt, Europe's first commercial-scale floating wind farm off the coast of Aberdeenshire, has been given the green light by the Scottish Government. True North were delighted to be able to support the joint venture between Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn which will unlock up to £3 billion investment with the companies committed to local jobs by harnessing the 'world-class energy skills and experience across the North East's Supply Chain' to support its development. This region has one largest concentrations of subsea engineering capability anywhere in the world and the largest cluster of energy supply chain companies anywhere in the UK. There truly is no better location to invest in low carbon technologies, particularly floating wind, and this is a significant milestone for our energy transition ambition. Join us this Thursday, August 22 to hear from Dr. Seth Theuerkauf, renewable energy program specialist with the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and Dr. Jocelyn Runnebaum, marine scientist with TNC’s Maine Chapter, about how potential offshore wind areas are defined and what steps are taken to protect biodiversity and other ocean uses during this second installment in our seven-part series on offshore wind. Just last week, Dominion Energy secured a nearly 180,000 acre lease from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management east of their Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project off Virginia Beach. This lease area has the potential to produce up to 4 gigawatts of electricity – enough to power up to 1.4 million homes – and bring Virginia over the finish line to produce 5.2 gigawatts of emission free electricity from offshore wind by 2035. This is great news for climate, and TNC looks forward to working with Dominion to implement conservation-friendly development practices for the benefit of people and nature. Signed, sealed… it’s time to deliver! Ørsted’s SVP for Stakeholder Relations, Ingrid Reumert, was in #Brussels today to sign the EU Wind Charter alongside the European Commission, EU energy ministers, and key industry peers. The Charter is backed by WindEurope and 300+ wind industry companies. The Charter is an important political agreement for Europe’s wind industry. It commits EU countries to deliver on the actions assigned to them under the European Wind Power Package – a game-changing action plan which will help accelerate the build-out of wind energy as well as strengthen the supply chain. Most of the roadblocks to reaching our European climate targets, which require building 30 GW of wind every single year up until 2030, will require sustained policy action over the next few years. By signing the Charter, the EU countries commit to improve auction design and permitting. That’s how we deliver for the climate, for industry decarbonisation, and add value for our society. For me personally, this ends what has been a busy year adovcating for renewable energy in the EU captial. It started with the finalization of the Renewable Energy Directive and much of the Fit-For-55 package. 2023 was also crunch-time for Electricity Market Design, which went through the EU process in record time. Lastly, we saw an increasingly important role of green industrial policy, for example through the Net Zero Industry Act. Wtih this much progress on accelerating the energy transition, I remain hopeful for 2024! See you on the other side, and enjoy your holiday season 🎇😉
