AVESS Energy is delighted to commence a feasibility study under the Government of Western Australia's Carbon Innovation Grants Program (CIGP) following the signing of a funding agreement with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DEWR). The study will seek to validate our 50kW/250kWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) prototype for mine site application, providing an opportunity to understand and enhance our VFB's temperature resilience and suitability for WA’s harsh environment. The Company will now look to finalise its demonstration agreement with WA vanadium developer Atlantic Vanadium Pty Ltd to demonstrate our prototype at Atlantic’s world-class Windimurra Vanadium Project. AVESS Energy will subsequently engage EPCs to progress the development of the microgrid system. After receiving an order for a 100 MW #electrolyzer last year, Sunfire is now engaged in another major project: conducting the front-end engineering and design study (FEED) for a 500 MW #hydrogen project scheduled for operation by 2028. Their FEED study will help the customer make a well-informed financial investment decision (FID) for the project. This project marks a significant milestone in Europe’s #greenhydrogen initiatives. The #renewable hydrogen produced will support various applications, including #refinery operations and #ammonia production, contributing to industrial #sustainability efforts. Complementing the project, extensive #solar and #wind infrastructure will accompany the central 500 MW pressurized #alkaline electrolyzer. Sunfire’s comprehensive FEED study will define operational parameters, site requirements, and execution guidelines with integration partners (EPCs) for the electrolyzer. The outcome sets a crucial milestone towards project realization, ensuring effective execution.

Vanadium flow batteries are on their way to becoming a staple in long-duration energy storage. A great example of this is Invinity Energy Systems' Energy Superhub Oxford project in the UK. Launched in July 2022, the VFB is able to power over 6,000 homes for an entire day with its 2MW/5MWh capacity. The project saved ~732.66 tonnes of carbon (the equivalent of planting 4,300 trees) in just a year of operation.
