It serves as a platform to celebrate the progress made while also recognizing the numerous ongoing challenges women face. Over the years, women have contributed immensely to various fields, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that inequality persists in many aspects of society. Intersectionality, the understanding that women's experiences are shaped by various intersecting identities such as race, class, and sexuality, plays an important role in the fight for equality. It reminds us that the struggle for women's rights is not a one-size-fits-all approach but rather a complex and multifaceted battle that requires a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by women from diverse backgrounds. My question is, Is it really necessary to set aside a specific day to honor women? Or Do you genuinely think that Women's History can be commemorated on just one date? As everyone is aware that setting specific dates for these days is to provide focused occasions for honoring, raising awareness, and reflecting on the significance of these events or individuals. Do we really need that? Assigning a specific date to celebrate women's achievements can both highlight progress and risk trivializing ongoing struggles. While it offers a focal point for activism, it's crucial to recognize women's diverse experiences and advocate for equality every day. The 2024 theme for Women in History Month is “women who advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion” The theme recognizes women who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives, workplaces and communities. Women from every background have long realized that discrimination will never bring equality or justice. We need to speak up and work harder for fairness in our institutions and social interactions.
