[EU project, my project 2024 | The Dolphin Center] 🐬Successful Open House at the Dolphin Center in Piran As part of the inspiring stories of "EU Project, My Project 2024," the Dolphin Center in Piran hosted a highly successful open house. The Dolphin Center features an exhibition showcasing interesting facts about dolphins' lives and the research work of the Morigenos association. The exhibition includes interactive elements, such as an educational app that allows visitors to experience dolphin research work, and a sound room where recordings of the sea, boats, and dolphin sounds emphasize the importance of sound in the marine environment. Visitors could also observe a life-sized realistic model of a dolphin, created directly from the likeness of one of the first identified and most frequently observed dolphins in the Slovenian sea, the bottlenose dolphin. 🐬 The open house event allowed visitors to tour the exhibition spaces for free and learn more about dolphin life and the association's activities. In addition to the tour, visitors had the opportunity to symbolically adopt a dolphin and join the Morigenos association. The "EU Project, My Project 2024" has thus proven its value in connecting people and fostering interest in environmental issues. The Dolphin Center in Piran remains an important hub for educating and raising public awareness about the importance of marine conservation. 💚🌊 Read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/dUBa55YG #EUinmyregion EU Funds

Ocean observing and forecasting are not easy areas to communicate. They are intrinsically complex, combining multitudes of scales, technologies, disciplines, and applications. For the last four years, the EU EuroSea project has been working to advance European ocean observing and forecasting system across all its elements. The results translate into user applications, community best practices, scientific papers, technological breakthroughs, new in situ data, improved ocean forecasts, meetings, workshops, 85 project deliverables, and more. How to summarize the legacy of such a vast initiative? Meet the EuroSea Legacy Report. It is telling the story of EuroSea across its eight high-level impact areas with three dozens of specific impacts. I’m happy to have completed this intense work and grateful for the chance to work with amazing colleagues to design approaches to monitoring the EuroSea impacts. These span a vast array of successes, from improving the #ocean #carbon observing and accounting or developing real-time ocean state alerts for industries, to building partnerships for more efficient #oceanobserving governance or boosting the visibility of observing and forecasting as key RTDI areas and backbones of all ocean policies. We hope that this report will attract attention to the opportunities of ocean observing and forecasting and the immense amount of work, expertise, and value Europe is producing - for the European and global common benefits. https://lnkd.in/d4jRfaTD Toste Tanhua Nicole Köstner, PhD Emma Heslop Kieran Reilly Dr Colin Keogh Anthony Noronha Fiona-Elaine Strasser Karina V. #eeaGrantsGR #OurStories The School of Fine Arts (ASFA) is the oldest educational institution in Greece that focuses on visual #arts, #culture, and #literature. ASFA has building infrastructures in Athens where its departments are located and carry out its main educational work. It also has artistic stations throughout Greece that host many artistic and cultural events. These stations are housed in remarkable buildings located in places of particular natural beauty and great historical and cultural interest. The recent philosophy of ASFA is to transform buildings into nearly #zeroenergy consumption buildings and promote sustainable technologies. ASFA is currently working on a project to implement innovative and demonstrative energy interventions at the Delphi Art Station. This art station is located on the outskirts of the Delphi archaeological site and is one of the most frequently visited art stations of the school. The project aims to showcase the use of #sustainableenergysolutions at the art station. The Delphi Artistic Station will be transformed into a Smart Building Model and Energy Innovation Experiential Center through interventions, such as: ⚡ energy upgrading and RES building interventions ⚡innovative actions of a smart experiential laboratory ⚡installation of a smart metering system ⚡support services. The benefits of the energy upgrade of the building: 🌟Raise awareness of citizens by bringing them into contact with modern green technologies 🌟Promote innovation, good practices in the application of energy technologies, and the development of sustainable development. 🌟 Familiarize members of the region with sustainable development practices and improve their quality of life. 🌟Reduce CO2 emissions and #reduction of #energyconsumption. 🌟Strengthens partnerships. #Workingtogether #eeaGrantsCommunity EEA and Norway Grants Norwegian Embassy in Athens EEA GR-Energy Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES)

PhD & Docent in Human Geography, Senior Lecturer. Director of WATCH research school. Örebro University
Det börjar dra ihop sig till konferens i Köpenhamn! Kom och presentera transportforskning på denna roliga session som jag arrangerar tillsammans med Linnea Eriksson (former Hjalmarson) och Karolina Isaksson. Call for papers 10th Nordic geographers meeting, Copenhagen, Denmark. June 24-27, 2024. Session: Critical perspectives on transport system transitions and transformations Session organizers: Ida Andersson (Örebro University), Linnea Eriksson (former Hjalmarson) (Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) and K2), and Karolina Isaksson (Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) and KTH Royal Institute of Technology) Session description: The transport sector on sea, land, and air accounts for 1/3 of the global CO2 emissions (iea, 2023). This, together with the lack of substantial reductions in its emission (IPCC, 2022), places the sector at the center stage in a transition towards sustainable development. However, sustainable transformation of the transport system entails much more than merely the reduction of CO2, as Banister (2008) among others has pointed out. Policy and planning involving both public and private actors, infrastructure, vehicles, fuels, public transport systems etc., are key aspects for transformation, many of which require radical changes to create necessary impact. Coincidentally, the functionality of the transport system has major influence on the realization of several of the global SDGs, highlighting the need for institutional capacity and collaborative capabilities across sectors and actors. This session invites papers that critically explore the above-described perspectives on transport systems transitions and transformations in different geographies and all forms of transport, including, but not limited to, subjects such as: • Institutional perspectives on transitions in the transport sector • Spatially uneven development of sustainable transport systems • Planning theory and practice in the transport sector • Everyday mobilities and organization of everyday life • Ideas about possible and desirable futures Please send your paper title and abstract (up to 200 words) to ida.andersson@oru.se by April 8th at the latest. Please also make sure to submit your abstract and register for the conference before April 15th. "The World Heritage Leadership (WHL) programme is launching a 2nd edition of the Heritage Place Lab (HPL), focused on strengthening networks across research and site management in the context of the World Heritage Convention. In its Article 5, the UNESCO World Heritage Convention calls on State Parties to develop and encourage research for the protection of their cultural and natural heritage, placing on science an important role on its implementation. Even though the World Heritage system provides such space for exchange and collaboration between researchers and practitioners, this has not been sufficiently and systematically explored. Strengthening the interlinkages between site managers and researchers can assist the conservation of natural and cultural heritage by building capacities on managers to understand how research can support their work and what type of research is needed to address management issues. Eligibility Criteria 1. World Heritage site managers who are seeking collaborations with researchers to improve their management processes and decision-making. 2. Sites facing categories of issues such as: a) Development pressures; b) Climate change impacts; c) Legal frameworks and boundaries; d) Improvement on buffer zone(s); e) Governance: rightsholders and stakeholders involvement; f) Integrating Indigenous, traditional, and local knowledge into management. The Heritage Place Lab 2024-2025 will consist of a series of online and in-person workshops to be held between September 2024 and April 2025. The expected outcome is to develop tools to facilitate the exchange between site managers and researchers, establishing working methodologies with researchers and research institutions to design research projects and strategies to support World Heritage site management. Applications should be submitted by 30 May 2024. Pre-selected World Heritage properties and their site managers will be contacted and invited for an online interview with the World Heritage Leadership that will take place in June 2024." [Centrale Lille Brazilian Tour - Day 3] 'Pit Stop' visit at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte to meet Prof. Henrique Resende Martins at UFMG School of Engineering and his colleagues Prof. Ricardo Duarte and Prof. Julian Eleuterio. This was a short but intense meeting exploring many possibilities for future developments in our cooperation with Centrale Lille #EcoleCentraleLille #ENSCL We did not have much time to extend our visit to the many labs and research facilities at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, but we'll make sure to plan it for our next visit. The State of Minas Gerais and Région Hauts-de-France do have a lot in common, not only for historical reasons but also in their respective efforts to fight Climate Change and decarbonate their industries. For instance, in 2012, the Région Hauts-de-France partnered with AFD - Agence Française de Développement to support the "Energy & Climate Change Plan" of the Governo do Estado de Minas Gerais (https://lnkd.in/eCDq_SDT), one of many example of Decentralised Cooperation between the two regions.
