Last week, some of the BM3 team were delighted to attend the open day of Queenswood Newport, an extra care scheme designed in collaboration with Keon Homes Limited for The Wrekin Housing Group. Congratulations to the team at Keon for delivering a high-quality build six months ahead of schedule! As Architects and Landscape Architects, this is a fantastic extra care scheme to have worked on, and we are thrilled with the exceptional outcome and the positive impact the building and gardens will have on the community.

🗞️ Development news: Lovell Plants New Tree and Bench at Kirk Ella Development in Partnership with Local Council Lovell, a leading name in property development, has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing local green spaces by planting a new tree and installing a bench at The Sycamores development. This initiative was made possible through a grant provided by the East Riding Local Council and championed by local ward Councillor Gary McMaster. The new tree replaces an infected oak that had to be removed during the construction of the development. The oak’s removal was necessary to ensure the safety and longevity of the area’s natural environment. Now, thanks to the collaboration between Lovell and the council, the space has been rejuvenated with a vibrant new tree that symbolises growth and sustainability. A new bench has also been installed, providing a tranquil spot for residents and visitors to enjoy the revitalised surroundings. How do you ensure the legacy of a historic building is preserved while modernizing it for today’s needs? When it comes to working on historically preserved buildings, every detail matters. Hiring the right contractor is crucial—not just for the quality of the work, but for maintaining the integrity and character of the structure. In New York City, projects involving landmarked properties come with unique challenges, including strict guidelines from the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC). A skilled contractor familiar with these regulations can navigate the complexities, ensuring that every update or restoration is compliant while honoring the building's history. From sourcing period-appropriate materials to employing preservation techniques, the right team can seamlessly merge history and innovation. Getting it right means respecting the past while shaping the future of our city’s architectural heritage. #DoriDoors #Landmark #Preservation #DoorInstall

A newly built house in Detroit's North Corktown neighborhood stands as an example of what two local architects believe could be one way out of the nation's housing shortage. The principals with Detroit-based ourhoum say the goal with their company is to scale the methods used to build the house in a matter of months, done in a cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable manner. Doing so, they say, can greatly reduce the cost of building new in-fill housing in legacy cities such as Detroit.

The Appeal Decision overturning all 16 reasons for refusal by Lambeth Council to re-develop this brownfield site with 24 new apartments and houses in the middle of an urban block on Brixton Hill, Lambeth, London was one of the highlights of last year. I am especially pleased by this result because by the time of the enquiry 6 reasons remained unresolved which were all design related such as character, massing, living conditions and impact on neighbours. The Inspector found the design to be satisfactory in all matters and confirmed that we managed to optimise the capacity of this brownfield site with a high-quality design-led approach. “It (the proposal) therefore complies with Policy Q5 of the L-LP which requires local distinctiveness to be sustained and reinforced and Policy Q7 of the L-LP which requires high quality design. It also complies with Policy D3 of the LP which requires a design-led approach to optimise site capacity and high quality design.” – Inspector appointed by the Sectretary of State #residentialdesign #regeneration #brownfield #brixton #london #contemporaryhome #contemporaryarchitecture #rohacsarchitects #rohacs

Unlimited Renders & Revisions for Architects at a fixed monthly fee—better quality, less cost than an in-house visualizer.
3moThis extra care scheme is a wonderful example of how thoughtful design can create spaces that truly enhance the lives of the community. The careful integration of the building and gardens shows a commitment to both functionality and the well-being of residents. I can imagine 3D renders played a key role in: -> Visualizing the connection between the building and its surroundings for seamless integration with the landscape. -> Simulating how residents would experience the gardens and communal spaces for maximum comfort and accessibility. -> Showcasing the layout and flow of the extra care scheme to ensure it meets the specific needs of its future residents. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in making Queenswood Newport a reality! 👏
