Great to see our #IvorHouse restoration in #Brixton featured in Historic England's "Heritage Works for Housing" publication. The guide sets out how #heritage can work for housing and aims to facilitate the #repurposing and #refurbishment of historic buildings to deliver more homes and better outcomes for all. #IvorHouse is a 1930’s #artdeco landmark in the centre of #Brixton, once a department store and more recently used as council offices. We worked closely with the Conservation Officer and design team to sensitively restore the building, transforming it into 26 high-quality homes and commercial space, enhancing and preserving #heritage features such as terrazzo tiles and a mesh lift shaft. Download the guide and check out the case study (p30): https://bit.ly/3NjYl6u #IvorHouse is part of the wider #YourNewTownHall project with London Borough of Lambeth to create a new civic campus and hundreds of new homes for #Lambeth. #heritage #restoration #heritagehomes #repurposing

Editor-in-chief, Founding Director and Owner at The Developer and Festival of Place. Hon. FRIBA, FRIAS
The benefits of Passivhaus stood out today – Sure, we've known about these for a while, but never have so many stars aligned: From de-risking housing investments for climate resilience, to combat fuel poverty and boost affordability to the benefits of increased health and wellbeing for productivity, reduced rent arrears, not to mention delivering operational net zero and a positive impact. As for reducing embodied carbon alongside adopting Passivhaus – what we're hearing today is that we can drive to do both. One key takeaway was how Passivhaus certification drives quality control on site and upskilling – especially when certification is written into contracts. There's plenty of carrots and a stick too. Air test, air test, air test... Did you miss the session? Now available as a recorded session to playback... You can also download the slides under the 'resources' tab and cite some of the compelling facts and figures (Passivhaus costs 8% more, but some have made it cost -4%). Thanks to Muse for supporting and to all our speakers for sharing their experience. We had 500 professionals register for this session including local authorities, investors, developers, housing associations and architects. If you would like to work with us and share learning with our community, contact James MacLeod to find out more. That's a wrap until the next event! Stay tuned for Climate Resilience in November, tickets on sale now.
