Once again, In January 2025, we are proud to show our support to the Nightingale House Hospice 🎄 Christmas Tree Collection 🎄 This year, the Christmas tree collection was bigger then ever with over 1400 trees booked in which is incredible! "It really shows the support that local people in the Wrexham and surrounding areas have for the hospice. Cable Services Group have supported this campaign for the last 5 years, and both Martin (Warehouse) and Carl (Accounts) were happy again to provide their services in helping pick up trees even when with weather is at its worse with the snow and the cold temperatures. 💪 🥶 " Huw Evans - Marketing Manager We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nightingale House Hospice for hitting their 30 year anniversary of specialist care.. 👏 Full details on the hospice can be found by clicking this link: https://lnkd.in/eYwg4WF #support #localhospice #christmastree

My heart wrenched as I watched this video. It was a hard video to watch, especially when Andrew answered the question: Do you want to die at home or in a hospice?" A powerful reminder of hospices' vital work in providing compassionate care during difficult times. I asked myself what was it like for Andrew to make that video. In those first few seconds, you could see a change in his expression as he answered, realising that whatever brought him to St Francis Hospice - who are very good, by the way - his situation was undeniably real. It's a tough place to be. Watching this video made me reflect on how often we are encouraged to be grateful for even the slightest things. While this is a good practice, I invite you to take this further. Consider this: Are you noticing what you are constantly thinking about? Are you replaying past situations, incidents or comments that hurt you? Do you continue to relive it? Because stress is widely recognised as a significant factor contributing to many illnesses. Notice what you are thinking about and ask yourself if those thoughts are serving you to live a happier life. Is it worth it? As morbid as it sounds, the Stoics had a phrase worth remembering: memento mori—remember you will die - as a profound reminder of our mortality and the impermanence of life. I repeat it to myself whenever I notice I'm making a big deal out of nothing. Make the most of your week ahead.
We've been privileged to speak to Andrew, one of the individuals we're currently caring for, and we've been blown away by his honesty and his love and support for the hospice. In this video, Andrew talks about what his hopes for the hospice are. Thank you Andrew for being so candid and for sharing your time with us 🧡 If you also want to read Andrew's story 📖 we've shared it on our website https://lnkd.in/e5J5HDYZ #40thAnniversary

Check out how Topkare Hospice honors life for those who choose our hospice services.
How does Topkare Hospice honor and acknowledge each life who chooses to use our hospice services? Death is a sacred part of life and Rebekah Finn our Bereavment Coordinator shares a ritual of using feathers she found in nature to recognize and represent each soul who has transitioned during our bi-weekly Interdiscplinary Team Meetings. She also adds their initials to dissolvable paper and uses a battery operated light to hold space for each of them. These feathers and initials will be collected for the 2024-2025 year and be used during our 2025 Annual Memorial. If want to learn more about hospice or have questions whether you qualify for free hospice services reach out to Kieran Rogers or call our office at 858.381.0098.

Most people seek hospice care because they want to ensure comfort and peace in life's final chapter. But these are the unexpected ways embracing life's moments for a decade has led to massive personal growth: At The Lighthouse Community Hospice Inc, we've understood the unspoken power of cultural and spiritual respect in hospice care. It's not just about medical support; it's about honoring the person's life story, their traditions, and spiritual beliefs. We've seen families find solace and strength during the end-of-life transition through personalized rituals and practices that reflect their cultural heritage. By normalizing these crucial conversations, we help minimize fear and stigma, creating a pathway of understanding and acceptance. Our approach has not only provided comfort to those in their final days but also enriched the lives of their loved ones left behind, through a deeper connection and honoring of legacy. This is the heart of hospice care. Share if you believe in compassionate end-of-life care or comment with your thoughts. Contact us for compassionate end-of-life care. #HospiceCare #EndOfLife #CulturalRespect #normalizingtheconversation

Did you know that Children’s hospices rely on grants and charitable donations to provide vital services to children and their families - from play to medical care, to respite care and advocacy? Without services such as these provided to my family and our daughter, I don’t know how we would have coped during her short life. Community NHS support is a postcode lottery with long waiting lists, so the closure of a children’s hospice should worry everyone - even if you’re fortunate enough to never need one. What can you do? ✅ Support your local hospice by taking part in fundraisers, volunteering or donating. £40 provides an hour of nursing care ✅ Follow and support charities like Together for Short Lives, which further supports families of children with life-limiting conditions (for example, we were gifted a mini break to make memories and received the Butterfly Fund to assist with funeral costs) ✅ Write to your MP and sign petitions to ensure vital services aren’t lost and vulnerable children can live their lives with dignity and care.
Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, Liverpool 's decision to close at the end of 2024 is very difficult for the children and families who receive care from the hospice, the staff who tirelessly provide it and all those in the local community who support it. We know that this will have been a very challenging decision for Zoe’s Place’s trustees to make too. Our thoughts are with them all at this difficult time. Together for Short Lives commits to working with professionals and services in Merseyside to help make sure that the children and families affected by this decision can access the palliative care they need, when and where they need it.
