Sexual misconduct, psychological harassment, gender discrimination, unwanted or derogatory remarks about female coworkers, disagreeable and inappropriate behaviour from coworkers or employers, and other events can all be considered forms of workplace harassment. For the benefit of all workers, a safe and welcoming workplace is essential, but it is particularly crucial for women, who frequently face difficulties at work. It is your duty as an employer and a colleague to establish a work environment where all workers, regardless of gender, feel appreciated and safe. Here’s how you can go about it: Develop and implement anti-harassment policies Create a safe space to promote reporting and protect complainants Conduct intricate background checks Encourage the voicing of concerns Improve employee awareness Ensure a supportive environment Follow RDR for more such information. #HowToDEI #rdrpeel #workplacediversity #diversityandinclusion #diversity #workplaceculture #diversitymatters #leadership #welead #diversityequityinclusion #diversitytraining #allracematters #celebratediversity #settlement #employment #refugees #onlinelearning #employers #newcomers #capacitybuilding #learningprogram #antiracism

While sexism in the workplace is, in theory, illegal under the Equality Act 2010, it is well-known that it still persists. There are high-level actions that any business should be taking, such as ensuring equal pay, and that recruitment is conducted fairly. But what about your everyday culture? Letting relatively minor poor behaviour slide could develop into bigger problems. Take a look at a few scenarios which are all too easy to ignore, but could be slowly damaging your workplace culture: https://lnkd.in/et-4bVuv #HRDeptBradford #HR #Blog

I believe the Respect@Work Act represents a ground-breaking effort to eradicate #sexualharassment, sex based-harassment (sexism) and #discrimination in Australian workplaces, and as a woman who has dealt with such issues throughout my career, I welcome it. I must also say sexual harassment does not discriminate, I know of many cases where men have been targeted. By placing positive duty on employers, the Act shifts the burden from the victims to those in positions of power, prompting a proactive and continuous approach to create #safe, #inclusive, and #respectful workplaces. The Act's enforcement signifies a renewed commitment to ensuring all workers' rights to a #harassment-free environment, creating a significant milestone in the journey towards workplace #equality. As an #IR and #HR expert, I am happy to help support employers to make it a reality and create safe workplaces for all their employees. #respectatwork #positiveduty #safeworkplace #sexualharassment #HR

Discrimination – is your workplace free of it? As an employer, there are things you can – and should – be doing to prevent discrimination occurring within your workplace. The Equality Act safeguards employees and job applicants from discrimination with regard to protected characteristics, these being age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity leave, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation – it’s actually unlawful to discriminate directly against a job applicant or employee by treating them less favourably because of any of these protected characteristics. Picking one prospect over another because of their race; promoting a male employee above a female employee as she’s on maternity leave; disciplining a younger team member but not an older one for the same misconduct... these are all quite well-known examples of discrimination, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. We’re here to help you when it comes to using protected characteristics to make decisions and in recruitment, as the main responsibility for discrimination at work lies with employers. From pay gap reporting and internal audits to record keeping, policies and training surrounding equal opportunities, along with best recruitment practices, and even advice on grievances and appeals, Warwick HR can help you every step of the way. If you’d like to make sure you’re doing everything right, or if you’re not really sure where to start and need some advice, join us for a free one-hour training session, date to be confirmed.
