✂️ The community came out to celebrate Sunnyvale, CA's new headworks and primary treatment facility. ✨ The new headworks and primary treatment facility is part of Sunnyvale’s $1.3B Cleanwater Program, which includes a complete reconstruction of the WPCP. This 25-year program is the biggest capital endeavor Sunnyvale has ever undertaken, and includes more than 20 projects to be completed over five phases. The headworks and primary treatment facility is part of Phase 1 of the program and is the first of the projects with a value over $100M. CDM Smith’s strong partnership with Sunnyvale through the first 10 years of the program has included securing low-cost financing through California’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF), saving the city tens of millions of dollars in interest. https://lnkd.in/gAhkpyvQ To see what's next for Sunnyvale, check out the program's website, developed by Trinnex: https://lnkd.in/eRPqUW3H [Photographs courtesy of the City of Sunnyvale]

Excellent campaign well done to all involved.
In consultation with Greening the West, Moonee Valley City Council is proud to announce the launch of the One, Two, Tree campaign🌳 The campaign encourages the community to plant trees on private properties to help achieve the city’s canopy cover target of 30% by 2040. A series of videos will be released on social media over the next few months, promoting the benefits of trees, giving examples of trees residents can plant in different sized backyards, and showing residents how to plant a tree. One, Two, Tree was funded by a $140,000 grant from the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions. The Victorian Government’s Metropolitan Partnerships Development Fund (MPDF) supports the Metropolitan Partnerships to act on local priorities, informs the Metropolitan Partnerships’ advice to government and supports Melbourne’s social and economic recovery. This project was funded under the MPDF to address and support the priorities of the Western Metropolitan Partnership.

Do you know what makes the I Love Lancaster Fund so unique? Because it is endowed, it grows over time to support emerging needs, while keeping the vibrance of our shared future as its priority. In fact, it’s our most flexible and responsive fund, making it possible to invest in critical opportunities like HDC MidAtlantic’s College Avenue affordable housing project at the former Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster. With a grant from the I Love Lancaster fund, HDC MidAtlantic is redeveloping the former hospital into a mixed-use site that will provide affordable housing to local residents. This renovation will not only meet the critical need for affordable housing in our community, but it also aligns with the priorities defined in the Lancaster County Planning's Places 2040 plan, the Lancaster City Alliance's Building on Strength Economic Development Strategic Plan, and the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania's Interim Housing Strategy. When you give to the I Love Lancaster Fund, you join 100 years’ worth of visionary funders who worked to create a way to support emerging needs throughout the county. You give it. We grow it. For Lancaster. Forever. Learn more by going to https://lnkd.in/eHee4ACb

As the following Planning Magazine article from the American Planning Association points out, while there isn't one solution to resolve the entire housing supply crisis, there are replicable actions that can be applied in most communities. "Omaha, Nebraska, is an example of a place that's forging public-private partnerships and leveraging multiple layers of funding to both build and preserve affordable housing, according to a case study from the Housing Supply Accelerator Playbook." Any way you cut it, $11.4M in support funding is great news for New Westminster! The federal Housing Accelerator Fund recognizes Municipalities that are taking action to address the housing crisis, and helps fund initiatives to accelerate this action. This funding will help our City and region address the pressures of regional growth through reduced permitting timelines, faster response to recent provincial housing regulation, and updating our Inclusionary Housing and Family Friendly Housing policies. It will also help in meeting the infrastructure needs that come from housing growth. https://lnkd.in/gTSv4gF6

Launching this fund has been my top priority since starting at SSEN Transmission . Like all these things, there are a large number of people across the business who have worked really hard to make this happen. This is very much the beginning - this round has £2m but we expect the value of our #Community Benefit Funds to grow to hundreds of £millions. We will learn from this fund and make improvements as we move forwards with future funds and rounds. #CommunityBenefitFund #SustainableFuture #SSENTransmission #Scotland #Funding
⚡️At SSEN Transmission, we’re proud to bring positive benefits and a lasting legacy to local communities across the north of Scotland. 🏴 We’re delighted to announce that applications are now open for our first-ever Community Benefit Fund, starting with our Regional Fund. This initial round of £2m in funding aims to kickstart impactful projects or initiatives that will make a real difference to communities. 💡And there’s more to come – our local funding opportunities will be launching soon, offering even greater support for community-driven projects. You can now: → Learn more about the Regional Fund. → Apply for funding. → Register for updates on upcoming local funds. ➡️ Find out more about how you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/eyAMKC3D

Loves lifting the lid in places | Exec Director BID Leamington | MPA Global Diversity Governance | Urban Planner | Create, Collaborate, Celebrate | 🌸
Its a treat to chair this #PublicRealm group for The BID Foundation. We bring together a fab group of people working in this space across large and small BIDs. It's rich territory for those that love being involved in projects that shape lives and place narratives. My hope is for it to be as valuable as possible to colleagues and the industry - a space to support each other, share, inspire and influence. It's ours to shape. We've identified a range of interest areas - and at our second meeting we were delighted to hear from Rebecca Handley as we discussed gaining support for delivering projects - both large and small. I also enjoyed hearing about Rachel McAllister Bean's rejuvenation project in York too (shared in a post below). We are working on plans to share more, next week I'll share our What's App Gp with members, and at some point we hope to meet in person. Please get in touch if you wish to learn more or get involved. Huge thanks to Lisa Gibbs AIPM, Matthew Davis FIPM and Rachel Nickeas for your support organising 🙏 Mattie Richardson, Tom Swithinbank, Eliza Daeschler, LEED Green Associate, Mike Mounfield, Sophie Alexander, Carl Alsop, Shaun Holland, Will Dyson, Alex Butt, Nadia Broccardo #riskmanagement #accessibility #netzero #safespaces #inclusion #accessibility #urbanforests #funding #tacticalurbanism #greenstrategy #stakeholderengagement #bidleadership
Our #PublicRealm working group was chaired by Stephanie K. this morning, with Business Improvement Districts sharing best practice and shaping an agenda for the spaces that we all value in towns and cities. This is an urgent topic, with local authority spending power decreasing and a complex landscape for property owner engagement. BIDs are increasingly raising funds for and coordinating new public realm that enriches local areas, socially and economically. Whether that's small scale, through parklets and greening, to the larger transformation of squares and key walking routes. We all want spaces that we connect to and that encourage us to dwell. So, a big question is how to ensure these spaces are cared for, and that new spaces created over the next 3-5 years. A full write up of the session will be issued shortly; thank you to group members joining today Mattie Richardson Tom Swithinbank Eliza Daeschler, LEED Green Associate Mike Mounfield Sophie Alexander Rebecca Handley Rachel McAllister Bean Nadia Broccardo Lisa Gibbs AIPM and Frankie Donnelly
