A new imaging device, based on the CERN technology Timepix, is now being used on cancer patients. Developed by the Czech company ADVACAM Cameras, this new miniature pixel detector could target cancer cells with greater accuracy in ion radiotherapy for head and neck #tumours, thereby limiting the treatment’s side effects. Scientists from the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg, the DKFZ German Cancer Research Center, and the Heidelberg Ion Beam Therapy Center (HIT) at University Hospital Heidelberg (UKHD) are now conducting the first patient trials. As we approach #BrainAwarenessWeek 🧠, find out more about this successful knowledge transfer story, from particle physics to medicine: https://lnkd.in/dZJTwbT4 #CancerResearch #Innovation #Healthcare #CERNKT
I read somewhere that the results for the trial will be available by year end ,I also pray for successful treatment of the first batch of patients ,✨ this will surely take science & health to the next level .Excited to learn more
This has "Fire in the Sky" vibes... #IYKYK
