On this solemn day, we pause to honor the lives lost and the heroes who emerged from the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As a global community, we reflect on the strength and resilience shown by individuals and nations in the face of adversity. At Colorcon, we stand united in remembrance and solidarity with those affected by this day, committed to fostering a world where compassion, unity, and understanding prevail. #NeverForget #TogetherWeRemember

The Boxser Diversity Initiative is concerned about the #Sarasota County Commission's recent funding decisions, particularly regarding the exclusion of important community programs like the Embracing Our Differences, Inc. exhibition, the Chalk Festival, and WSLR+Fogartyville. These programs play a vital role in cultural enrichment and community engagement in Sarasota County. While we appreciate the Commission's support for arts and cultural initiatives with $2.1 million in #tourist tax dollars, we believe excluding funding for these programs may overlook their significant impact. Embracing Our Differences, for instance, attracts hundreds of thousands of #visitors and promotes #humanrights and diversity through artistic expression. We urge the Commission to reconsider these decisions and ensure equitable support for all community programs that foster #dialogue and celebrate #diversity. Cultural diversity and artistic expression are essential to our community's fabric, and inclusive funding decisions will better reflect our shared values of tolerance and cultural vibrancy. Please read the op-ed from Embracing Our Differences, Inc.'s Executive Director Sarah Wertheimer: https://lnkd.in/e6rPdG2e The Boxser Diversity Initiative remains committed to advocating for fair and inclusive funding practices in Sarasota County.

🗳️ Civic Engagement: Our Power, Our Voice 🗳️ "Voting doesn’t solve everything—but not voting doesn’t solve anything. We’re not saving the system or a party here—we’re saving our ability to fight another day by strategically using the system that still governs us and will impact each of us directly. Our mission is to empower young Black girls and women to pursue their dreams in culinary, entrepreneurial, civic, and artistic fields. On World Braille Day, we celebrate more than Louis Braille and his ingenious creation; we honor a legacy of empowerment and accessibility. Arising from a childhood accident, Louis transformed his blindness into a beacon of hope for millions. Louis Braille was born on 4th January 1809 in France and at 15, he crafted a system from Charles Barbier's night writing, giving birth to braille, a language of dots that opened worlds for the visually impaired. Today, we also acknowledge a hard truth: the journey toward full accessibility is ongoing. Even after so long, many everyday places still lack braille, limiting independence and choice for those who are blind or visually impaired. This day isn't just about celebrating an invention; it's about advocating for a world that values inclusivity as its core value. This World Braille Day, let's remember Louis Braille's vision: a world where accessibility is considered everywhere and where every touch tells a story of independence and empowerment. Join us in celebrating and advancing this vision, making our world more inclusive, one dot at a time. #Inclusivity #A11y #Disability #Braille #Signs

What if overcoming denials was the biggest challenge to accelerating meaningful action on the polycrisis we are facing into ? And what if it was our deeply ingrained colonial ways of knowing and being in this dominant culture that are keeping us locked into responding in the same exhausted ways ? Denying the very stories, beliefs and behaviours that keep us locked on a path towards more violence, division and breakdown. Seeking out constant solutions to hold onto that make us feel good and stop us from confronting the true depth of the mess we’re in. Facing into denial is painful and hard. But working towards acceptance with community, connection, tools, play and practicing other more expansive ways of knowing and being can help us move faster into clearing the ground for alternative futures to take root. Futures that put care, solidarity, creativity, regeneration and life at the centre . The longer we are in denial, the harder the conditions for any widespread meaningful change will become. Acceptance is fertile. Join us at Becoming Crew - for an experiential (un)learning gathering on 25th June with special guest Artist and Educator - Azul Carolina Duque from Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures Collective to explore this and more. Everyone welcome - tickets via link https://lnkd.in/eVzmux9q #becomingcrew #unlearningtogether #community #practicedrivenchange #polycrisis ----------------- Video Credits includes short clips from: Fantastic Fungi, directed by Louie Schwartzberg Trippy animation by Anthony Francisco Schepperd
