Really really exciting that we have been successful in getting North Lincolnshire to play a significant role in how the health sector across England supports adults to develop a more active lifestyle. Great work from the team in finding the opportunity and producing a fantastic application... luckily chatting to me didn't de-select us :) NL Active Marie Hughes Lee Bettis Faye Colver “Currently, one in four of us is living with multiple long-term health conditions. That statistic is set to rise to two thirds of people aged over 65 by 2035. We know that our health care systems are under pressure, yet physical activity could help prevent up to 40% of these conditions. Furthermore, a more active lifestyle could help to manage more than 20 of the most common physical and mental health conditions.” From right across the physical activity and health sectors, these 39 organisations will join one of five communities of practice to support the co-design element of the project. Lesley Potts Adam Lovell Donna Watson
We are celebrating a huge milestone today, together with Active Partnerships, as 39 organisations join us to help develop Physical Activity for Health Pathways. Questions around the challenges and roles of those in public purpose work when it comes to the future of public health will be asked at what will be an engaging and insightful Challenger Seminar. Held on the 27th June at 1WS, you will connect with an esteemed panel of leading experts who will share their insight and perspective and shed light on the opportunities and solutions that require collective action across Queensland. 🌟 Celebrating success stories 🌟 We had a busy year delivering some fantastic events in collaboration with our partners. For the first time, we hosted the South Yorkshire Innovation Showcase. 💪🏼 This event in collaboration with the South Yorkshire Integrated Care System and delivered by our South Yorkshire Innovation Hub, was a celebration of the fantastic work happening across our region. We heard inspiring insights from colleagues about initiatives aimed at: 🔹 Improving early diagnosis and prevention 🔹 Creating a thriving and inclusive economy 🔹 Developing a diverse workforce that reflects our communities 🔹 Supporting children‘s development in the early years Key speakers, including Gavin Boyle, Oliver Coppard, and our CEO Richard Stubbs, shared powerful messages about how we can drive change: 🔹 “We are a region with innovation in our blood” 🔹 Collaboration is key: working together is the only way to create meaningful change. 🔹 To achieve different outcomes, we must embrace different approaches to tackle unfair yet avoidable health inequalities. 🔹 We need to be better at sharing the great work already happening in our region to benefit people not only here, but across the country 🔹 Our strengths lies in a shared vision, providing a clear direction for impactful action. 🔎 Explore the projects that are shaping the future of health and care in our region. 📢 Free webinar: Boosting health in Local Plans (Mon 30 September, 2-3pm) Local government planners and public health officers can learn how to make best use of a new framework for creating healthy Local Plans in a free webinar. Co-hosted by the TCPA and TRUUD (Tackling Root causes upstream of Unhealthy Urban Development), the webinar will launch and explore the new framework which provides evidence, guidance and inspiration for building in health to Local Plans at the earliest opportunity. The framework was created with planning and public health officers from seven local authorities in England – Bristol City Council, Guildford Borough Council, Medway Council, Northumberland County Council, Southampton City Council, Surrey County Council, Walsall Council – in response to research that found that although Local Plans are key documents for creating healthy places, they are often weak and inconsistent on how exactly this can be achieved. A briefing note, 'Developing a Healthy Planning Framework', sets out the research and steps towards improving the inclusion of health for Local Plans and TCPA Healthy Place-making webpages contain further useful resources.
