🚀 Exciting progress in European space technology! We recently held a productive workshop as part of our ongoing European space project, bringing together the Space USB consortium and our Advisory Board. The focus of this second session was twofold: 🔧 Finalizing the specifications for a universal, serial connector (similar to USB) capable of mechanically connecting two space elements and enabling data and power transfer once assembled in orbit. 💡 Debating the demonstration of prototypes in a laboratory environment. These prototypes will play a crucial role in advancing On-Orbit Servicing and assembly technologies. This marks a major step for our project milestones and towards enabling future space missions with modular, easily assembled components. We're excited about the collaborative effort driving this innovation forward! On Wednesday , December 4, Proba-3 is scheduled for the launch into space! 🚀 As shared last month, Proba-3 (part of ESA's PROBA programme) is the world's first precision formation flying mission. A pair of satellites, with Airbus-built platforms, will be loaded with their instruments and fly together maintaining a fixed configuration in #space, at 150 meters of distance. This way, they will create an artificial solar eclipse to study the #Sun's faint corona, undisturbed by #Earth's atmosphere. At #Aviotec we're proud to be part of this project working on the design, manufacturing and integration of MLI blankets. A workshop organized by European Space Agency - ESA & the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to address the strategic importance on #MDE technologies in space missions. 🛰 New Opportunity for Zero Debris Technologies Suppliers! We have an important update regarding the Zero Debris workshop. The dates have been changed to 27th and 28th of January 2025. European Space Agency - ESA, in collaboration with Airbus Defence and Space, OHB SE, and Thales Alenia Space, is committed to delivering on the promise of Zero Debris by 2030. 🛰️Our Director, Laurent Jaffart, joined the CEO of the UK Space Agency, Paul Bate, for a visit to see Space INSPIRE taking shape at the Thales cleanrooms in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Space INSPIRE, supported by CNES and the European Space Agency - ESA, is a new telecommunications satellite product line, developed by Thales Alenia Space. The new software-defined satellites will offer satcom operators an agile environment to develop advanced services and seize new business opportunities via a digital, ultra-flexible solution that is fully reprogrammable in orbit.        The first Space INSPIRE’s propulsion system has recently completed the Assembly, Integration and Test activities – ready for shipment to the Thales Alenia Space Cannes facility, where it will be further integrated into the satellite.     Space INSPIRE benefits from support from CNES and ESA through the ARTES Novacom II Partnership Project. At European Space Agency - ESA’s 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 in Paris on 9 October 2024, innovative projects shaping Europe’s space future took centre stage. The event showcased new projects in five focus areas, all supporting ESA’s vision of a modular and reusable space transportation ecosystem.⁣ Among the featured initiatives was 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓!, a programme dedicated to fast-tracking disruptive technologies - this time for 𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 & 𝐆𝐍𝐂 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬. With a focus on high-impact innovation, FIRST! aims to accelerate the deployment of these new technologies.
