COLLABORATION The expansion and adoption of ‘Space’ into the mainstream is hugely reliant upon how the industry works together for the benefit of the end user. Less about ‘what we do’ and more ‘what you can do’. To reach a position of almost anonymity in the end user’s eyes needs a vast amount of knowledgeable joined up thinking, action and ‘paddling under the surface’ to occur. Third Planet Orbital have been busy in March connecting and collaborating in multiple arenas to build the cohesion: • Exhibiting at (Space-Comm Expo). • Forming Business Relationships (Bright Ascension Ltd and Commercial Space Technologies Ltd. Here's a quick overview: Space Accelerator: TechCrunch has unveiled Seraphim’s 13th accelerator program, featuring nine innovative companies working on technologies ranging from propulsion to in-space manufacturing and space situational awareness. The article profiles the cohort which includes companies from the US, UK, Italy, and India. [https://lnkd.in/e3dsSiy2] Portfolio Highlights: • Hubble Network / SSVII: Announced a strategic partnership with Life360 to leverage its global satellite infrastructure. This collaboration will connect Life360's 66 million smartphones with "Find with Life360," a global location-tracking network. [https://lnkd.in/epUYEnZq] • Tomorrow.io / SSIT: Secured a $10.2 million contract from the US DoD to expand its hyper-local weather satellite constellation. The planned 168-satellite constellation will see its first five satellites launched this summer. This news boosted AST’s stock market cap back above $1 billion. We're making £65 million available for ground-breaking projects at the forefront of UK space innovation. 🛰️ Our National Space Innovation Programme(NSIP) will support high-risk, high-reward projects that will tackle our greatest challenges, from boosting connectivity in remote areas to climate change. 🌍 Since its pilot launch in 2020, NSIP has provided UK organisations with over £25 million in funding, including: SatVu used NSIP funding to develop the first Middle Wavelength Infra-Red satellite - launched in June 2023 - that is tracking heat emissions from buildings, helping fight climate change. 🛰️🏘️ Northumbria University used NSIP funding to build a new system that allows satellites to communicate via lasers, which will support future space science missions. 📡🛰️ Read more and apply for NSIP funding 👉 https://lnkd.in/exYjvFBP Rob Desborough, Managing Partner at investment company Seraphim Space, said: "The UK has a thriving SpaceTech ecosystem, over $47 billion of private capital has been invested across the global space sector since 2015. The UK accounted 17% of this, making it the second most attractive destination - only behind the US. Mechanisms like this are critical for the UK to maintain its prominence in what is now a globally competitive market worth in excess of $1 trillion by 2030." John Hanley, Chair of the trade association UKspace, said: "The UK space sector is one of the most research-intensive parts of our economy – with almost £800 million reported spend on R&D in the last Size & Health study. The UK Space Agency’s National Space Innovation Programme is hugely important as a catalyst for further industry investment to develop new and improved commercial products and services – driving growth across the whole of the country."
