🌍♻️ Why recycling rare earth elements from end-of-life NdFeB is a good opportunity for Copreci and for the planet? 🚀 Copreci is actively participating in the innovative Harmony project, which focuses on recycling rare earth elements from end-of-life NdFeB permanent magnets more efficiently. By tackling NdFeB permanent magnets, one of the most complex end-of-life products, Harmony Project EU is making significant strides towards contributing to the EU Circular Economy Action Plan (2020). This ambitious initiative aims to: 🌐 Make the EU independent and bolster its leadership in a strategic sector. 🔧 Overcome the EU’s reliance on China for the supply of rare earth elements (REEs). 🔗 Secure critical value chains within Europe. 🔄 Provide a promising opportunity for the REEs recycling ecosystem by developing a circular process for REEs recovery. At Copreci, we are proud to be part of this transformative journey towards a more sustainable and self-sufficient Europe. Together, we are not only addressing environmental challenges but also paving the way for a greener future. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress with the Harmony project! 🌟 #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Innovation #REEsRecycling #Copreci #HarmonYProject #EUActionPlan #GreenFuture https://lnkd.in/dYzF5ewp

We’ve spent much of our time at COP28 in sessions that are all about innovative, impact and development financing. I applaud the pledges of funding to address the climate agenda, but we know that much more is needed not only for climate change, but also to address plastic pollution, biodiversity loss and many other areas. One critical challenge which needs to be addressed with investment is the lack of proper waste management systems, especially in the Global South. Billions of people have no choice but to bury, dump or openly burn their waste. What’s needed are integrated waste management solutions as they will not only reduce waste and pollution but protect the environment, create low-carbon pathways and make it possible to extract valuable material from waste. Why do we think it is so important? Because we’re proving it and you can learn about one of our most significant projects, called Bersih Indonesia. In phase 1, it will serve more than 1 million residents whose waste will go into a developed integrated waste management system. To tackle the waste management challenge more swiftly, we need many more hands on deck, especially Multilateral Banks, the private sector, development partners and governments. We need more partners like Lombard Odier Investment Managers (https://lnkd.in/gCCzu5za) and institutions like the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). We need them to work together with platforms and initiatives to develop solutions that will prevent the leakage into the environment of plastic waste and create a circular economy for plastics. We develop the solutions and de-risk them and then we work with partners in replicating and scaling those solutions. #endplasticwaste #collaboration #CatalysingImpact #circulareconomy

22 April 2024: 🌏 World Earth Day is almost here! 🌍 #EarthDay2024 theme is Planet versus Plastics, as 🥡 Plastics Treaty negotiations will take place from 23 to 29 April 2024 in Ottawa, Canada 🇨🇦 🤞 Hopefully, this milestone session will be the second-to-last round before a treaty is signed in December 2024, leading to an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment. ❌ Note: 90% of plastics are not recyclable ♻️ due to their complex polymers and carbon molecules. Recycling is NOT the answer! 🚀 WWF, one of our founding partners, embarked on this journey to end plastic pollution, together with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, to launch the Business For A Plastics Treaty aiming at accelerating progress in the reduction of plastic production and the use of a circular economy approach. 🗓️Come meet us to learn, share and act on this topic during #BuildingBridges24 in December 9-12, 2024 in Geneva. ➡️Subscribe to our newsletter to get more information on our next edition! https://lnkd.in/ewhXse6P

Today, MEPs will vote on the revision of the Waste Framework Directive designed to bring about a more circular and sustainable management of textile waste. 🔄 This is an unparalleled opportunity to promote sustainable resource management, pursue climate neutrality, and fight against social exclusion and inequality. Together with more than 80 other European and national organisations, we call on the MEPs to harness the power of social economy enterprises by: 🫴Upholding all positive provisions on the social enterprises’ role in the collection and management of used and waste textiles as included in the European Commission proposal; 🧑⚖️ Granting decision-making power for social enterprises, alongside municipalities, in the Extended Producer Responsibility schemes’ governance; 💰 Requiring that Extended Producer Responsibility fees cover all costs associated with re-use and preparing for re-use activities carried out by social enterprises, including the management of residual waste; 👕Ensuring that social enterprises maintain ownership over all used and waste textiles they collect. The EU's journey to a #circulareconomy is still underway ♻ 🔜 According to Eurostat, just 11.5% of the EU's material use came from #recycling in 2022. Progress has been modest since 2010, and we're not yet seeing the leap needed to meet our ambitions! 👉 We need economic incentives and recycled content targets to ensure that prices mirror the true environmental value of #RecycledMaterials, fostering #innovation and investment in #ecodesign and recycling for hard-to-recycle materials, critical or not. Check out the data by Eurostat on EU’s circular material use rate 🔗 euric.link/eurostat-a78aac #EuRICrecycling #cop28 #rawmaterials

Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns is the 12th goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The aim of this goal is to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, as it is key to sustaining the livelihoods of current and future generations. The attainment of this goal requires deliberate actions from all of us. As consumers 🟢Be thoughtful about what you buy 🟢Choose products with lower environmetal impacts 🟢Reduce your carbon footprint on your daily activities 🟢Reduce your consumption of plastics 🟢Buy from sustainable and local sources As Businesses 🟢Innovate and design solutions that can enable individuals to live sustainably 🟢Consider the environmental and social impacts of your products and services 🟢Promote sustainable practices such as reusing, refurbishing and recycling of products. This will help to minimise waste and depletion of resources. For Government 🟢Implement and ENFORCE policies and regulations that promotes circular economy practices Our #MondayChallenge for this week resonates with this message " If we want to move towards a low-polluting sustainable society, we need to get consumers to think about their purchases" Have an awesome week #GreenGrowthAfrica #SustainableConsumption #sdg12
