If an in-person, hybrid, or virtual event isn’t part of your 2024 B2B planning you are going to fall behind. According to GTM Partners, only 41% of companies are using events as part of their go-to-market strategy … These are the companies that are building community, carving out categories, fostering real connections, and seeing an event as a PRODUCT that differentiates their brands. If we stop thinking about how an event can benefit the company & how it solves problems for our customers/suppliers/employees/industry it has the potential to unlock exponential impact seen over years - not just quarters. What does it feel like…. To work on an event that is SO in demand, it sells out almost immediately? The only relatable experience I’ve had when working B2B organiser side is the time our team launched an e-business event that coincided with the height of the dot-com boom in the late ‘90s… 💰 💰 💰 So many attendees turned up, event security closed the doors due to overcrowding. Of course, the event disappeared as just as quickly as it had risen when the boom went bust. In B2B, I think my experience is as rare as Trump’s humility. What are the chances that you could spot a "theme" with such huge appeal, get the timing and location of the event just right, and sustain it for the long term? Yet festivals, artists, theatre shows and even some consumer events do this routinely. What tactics can we borrow and translate to B2B? Pro Tips For Your Next B2B Event or Conference... Produce a testimonial based event promo. Here's the one we filmed last week... NOW... it's a lot more than just asking attendees if they liked it. As a producer, you HAVE to put the effort in to learn about your client's business, product, marketplace and goals. I never ask flimsy 'open questions'... Detailed prior research is absolutely key to understanding the event and how to deliver your clients business objective. This event was fully over subscribed and the attendees loved it. The secret, is conveying the value they got from attending. If others can see and APPRECIATE why your event (like this one) absolutely smashed it... They'll be fired up to attend and not miss the next one. It's not telling people your event is awesome. It's showing them... with receipts (as they say). I love this stuff.
