Not a bad spot for managers from Midland Mencap, New Hall Hotel and Spa, to start the important work on setting the organisations next three year strategy. We want this to be meaningfully co-produced with citizens so the first part of our work is to set a series of themes to consult and engage citizens with before we set our longer term strategic objectives #Birmingham #WestMidlands #socialcare #ThirdSector #coproduction #strategydevelopment

Bilston has a history of doing things its own way. Legacies of making, social organising and innovation have cultivated a unique local energy — not least the first UK town to index happiness. With new central government funding coming into the town over the next decade, residents must be empowered to draw on this legacy to seed new cultural growth in Bilston. We’ve been working to produce a Cultural Infrastructure Micro-Plan to set a trajectory for culture rooted in local values. We’ve worked with the West Midlands Combined Authority and City of Wolverhampton Council – supported by collaborators PRD and Stockdale – and connected with local stakeholders who will take forwards opportunities. Current momentum to strengthen Bilston’s offer as a place for culture is strong and over £45 million is destined for Bilston across the next ten years. This micro-plan for Bilston’s cultural development recommends four priority projects. These projects align closely with Bilston’s cultural requirements and aim to leverage existing and emerging cultural initiatives, such as those led by the Gazebo Theatre, the new Urban Room, Bilston Market regeneration efforts, and the grassroots music scene. We recognise it is important to ensure opportunities for culture lock in Bilston’s values — the things like happiness, cohesion, and healthy communities that have always been important to people in this place. Understanding which town centre assets can play a role in this mission, and imagining how Bilston’s creative residents can activate them, will be key first steps in embedding culture in the town. Read more about how the Cultural Infrastructure Micro-Plan will do this: https://lnkd.in/eR2hzH2z #culture #creativity #westmidlands #bilston #towns #gazebotheatre #urbanroom

🌅Pippa P., Head of Social Value and Marketing at Kinovo Group, attended the launch of the Building Skills for the Future report by the London Homes Coalition. Based on an analysis of the consolidated asset management and new build programmes of the housing associations in the Coalition, the report reveals a critical labour and skills shortage that threatens the maintenance, retrofit, and provision of social and affordable housing in the capital. It also provides three strategic solutions to address this crucial challenge. Kinovo Group welcomes the new administration’s commitment to promoting workforce and training plans for the construction sector and scaling up social and affordable housebuilding across the country. We hope this report provides strategic direction for future policies and we want to work together to achieve these targets. Our work does not stop here. This is only the first step of a long-term collaborative effort, and we want to bring more committed organisations to this initiative to help us turn these recommendations into reality. Great to be 'taken back' to Lincoln when reading the latest Institute of Place Management (IPM) case study on the partnership-led approach to transforming the city centre. The case study, written with Simon Kirk from City of Lincoln Council, shows how the Lincoln Town Deal has proven what can be achieved through partnership, vision, and action. It was particularly satisfying to read how the approach is evolving to enable continued revitalisation, following my work to help plan for this as part of my High Streets Task Force role. “The Town Deal Board will become the Lincoln Place Board, continuing to oversee and steward development across the city. This collaborative structure will ensure all stakeholders, from local businesses to community groups, have a voice in shaping Lincoln’s future.” Transferable learning points from our work in Lincoln about the potential evolution of Town Boards and other partnerships elsewhere, include the following proposed criteria for renewed place leadership: · expanding a town board’s remit beyond a single funding source · widening stakeholder participation beyond strategic partners · making full use of the breadth of partners’ understanding · empowering community-based partners · encompassing other existing place-based activity · incorporating a focus on animating places · better understanding the needs of city centre users · driving success through coordination and communications · combining formal and informal partnership working · recognising benefits to partners from participation It's great to hear from Ian Harvey SFIPM FRSA that the IPM will be showcasing effective place partnerships through their events programme in 2025, alongside highlighting the importance to government. Place partnership development has long been a key focus of our work as The People & Places Partnership Ltd., and so it is great to help them evolve in this way. #towncentres #citycentres #partnershipworking #stakeholderengagement #revitalisation #regeneration #lincoln

#Placemaking is a collaborative innovation process that works across disciplines, organisations and interests for a common goal - creating better places. The approach is a 'silo-buster'. The High Street Taskforce's six years of work in the UK found that: "The paucity of place partnerships across the country was a key barrier to progress. The need to restructure local governance arrangements to mobilise expertise, enthusiasm and effort from the business and the wider community was the number one recommendation of HSTF experts." Collaborative #place governance is a low-cost, high-impact approach to improve high street and place outcomes.
