What an inspiring day at Molineux Stadium! Over 200 industry leaders gathered to showcase #Wolverhampton's emergence as a hub for clean and green industries. The 'It Starts in Wolverhampton: Innovating for Sustainable Growth' event highlighted the city's commitment to sustainable development. A key highlight was discussion around the Green Innovation Corridor (GIC), a dynamic partnership between City of Wolverhampton Council and University of Wolverhampton. This ambitious initiative aims to position Wolverhampton as a global leader in green technologies, focusing on sustainable construction, advanced computing, and innovative engineering. GIC aims to establish a world-class eco-innovation district, delivering over 20,000 sqm of new R&D, laboratory, and commercial space, creating 1,200 new jobs. This transformative project underscores the city's commitment to fostering a thriving green economy. Industry leaders like Craig Osman from JLR, Olivia Simpson from FlexSea, and Davide Iacovelli from EOS shared insights into their ground-breaking work in vehicle electrification, bioplastics, and additive manufacturing. Wavensmere Homes has secured a £20m development loan from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) for its Canalside South regeneration scheme in Wolverhampton. Designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects, the £150m redevelopment of the 17.5-acre former industrial site, which was established by City of Wolverhampton Council and Canal & River Trust, will see more than 530 new energy-efficient homes delivered.

A survey of councils, collectively managing over 870,000 council homes, has shown that council housing finances are on the brink nationally. The government's upcoming housing strategy needs to #SaveCouncilHousing.
