As someone dedicated to championing diversity and advancing women in the workplace, the recent reduction of diversity recruiting programs in banking, law, and consulting firms demands our urgent attention. What this means for us: -Diminishing DEI Initiatives: Companies like PwC, JPMorgan Chase, and McKinsey are scaling back their diversity efforts due to the anti-woke movement and recent Supreme Court rulings. This shift could have a profound impact on minority candidates who rely on these programs. -Impact on Minority Job Seekers: The reduction of targeted diversity programs creates barriers for underrepresented groups, making it harder for them to secure internships and entry-level roles in competitive fields. -Inclusive Language Shifts: Broadening the language of diversity programs to be open to all applicants risks diluting the focus on the groups these initiatives were designed to support. -Legal and Perception Challenges: Fear of litigation and the evolving legal landscape are prompting companies to rethink how they promote DEI efforts. This retreat could undermine genuine diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In this changing environment, our commitment to diversity must remain unwavering. Diverse teams drive innovation, creativity, and success. As recruiters, we must continue to advocate for transparent, robust diversity initiatives that open doors for all talented individuals. Let’s work together to ensure that every person, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive in their career. #DiversityInRecruitment #WomenInWorkplace #DEI #InclusiveWorkplace #CareerOpportunities How can we sustain and improve diversity efforts in this challenging environment?

Given today's concerning The Associated Press story, let's please not ignore this appropriate Dr. #mlk quote among those being served up today...."The ultimate measure of a man* is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." We will never eradicate the racial wealth gap if we don't address equitable means of enabling economic opportunity. College internships/post-secondary education/work experience were game changers for me. Therefore, we need to ENABLE those with a will to succeed - not make it harder for people to realize their potential and/or start businesses. To ignore the increasing diversity of the US/world is to forgo maximizing current/future shareholder value AND a more harmonious society. https://lnkd.in/g8CSc2r6

This is **extremely** disappointing to see the corporate devotion to DE&I wane after performative support in 2020. This is one of many articles like this I have seen so far this year. While studying at Columbia | SIPA I did research and wrote about the importance of expanding the talent funnel to finance, and DE&I programs are the primary way that this happens. I encourage all of us who are in a position to make a difference in hiring at firms make a personal recommitment to diversity, inclusion and equity. #diversitymatters #inclusionmatters #equalopportunityforall

I build customized storytelling machines to engage audiences for higher ed, edtech and nonprofits. Message me for a client case study with measurable results.
I share these stories about corporate DEI to my (mostly) higher ed followers, because I think it's important to think about what college students are graduating into. It would be a disservice to students to censor conversations and inquiry about diversity, equity and inclusion. First of all, diversity is a fact of life. It exists whether or not we let bullies keep us from talking about it. Second, failing to make a workplace more equitable and inclusive is both a moral failing and lousy business strategy. Third, that takes intentional effort. The companies discussed in this article appear to get that, though they are under growing pressure from propaganda campaigns. Still, they've held up under the pressure better than many colleges and universities. I don't know what those institutions think they're graduates are going to do when they encounter these issues in their careers. https://lnkd.in/gicj-XGt
No, not all companies are abandoning diversity, equity and inclusion. Here’s why.
