Nurses are told to “suck it up, buttercup” after walking through fire to care for their patients under unsafe & unfair circumstances🤨 Your safety should never be a threat in your professional environment. Especially if you're in the business of health & care. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The healthcare system has siphoned off the wellness of nurses and repeatedly threatens their safety. They follow up by minimizing, gaslighting, & blaming nurses for their own inadequacies. This is why our nurses are suffering and it’s unacceptable. Thankfully, I have a solution🍀 I invite you to attend my virtual Masterclass that offers free training on how to recover from nurse-specific trauma & ways to insulate yourself from the broken system. Drop “MASTERCLASS” in the comments & I’ll send you the link to enroll👊🏼 Your support & engagement are greatly appreciated as we strive to create a sustainable & supportive healthcare environment. Avoidable nurse-specific traumatization… not only does it affect the mental and emotional wellbeing of most nurses but it also contributes to high turnover rates & a shortage of nurses willing to work in unsafe settings. By addressing and understanding the critical issue, we can work towards a healthcare system that values and supports its nurses, ultimately leading to better outcomes for both nurses and patients🙌🏼 I encourage you to tune into this episode at drlorrelaws.com Link in bio! It’s the healthcare system’s responsibility to provide safe working conditions👊🏼 It’s the healthcare system’s responsibility to provide nurses with resources and support👊🏼 It’s the healthcare system’s responsibility to have structures & processes in place to prevent avoidable nurse-specific traumatization👊🏼 Are you curious about the critical factors deterring nurses from entering or staying in the profession? 🛑 Nursing schools educate excellent nurses. What they don’t do is prepare them for the Trifecta of Trauma (individual trauma + unavoidable trauma + avoidable nurse-specific trauma) 👀 The result? Depleted and overwhelmed nurses, leading to a mass exodus from the profession🙅♂️ The longstanding narrative surrounding historical nurse trauma suggests that nurses need to be more resilient or manage their stress better. But where is the healthcare system’s organizational responsibility to create safe, well-resourced practice settings so nurses can thrive in their practice? It doesn’t matter how well educated or trained a nurse is when they are repeatedly traumatized in their practice. The long-term solution lies in addressing the root cause of nurse-specific traumatization.❤️🩹 It’s time to shine a light on this critical issue, raise awareness, and advocate for change. POV: Everyone keeps telling you it’s nurse burnout when it’s really nurse-specific traumatization🤯 Drop “ASSESSMENT” to uncover the truth of your symptoms! If you’re a nurse, the chances that you’ve felt detached, utterly exhausted, or beyond overwhelmed is high. The truth is, it’s most likely not because you’re just burnt out like you keep hearing🤡 We tell people experiencing burnout to “build more resilience” & “practice more self-care”. These statements & suggestions are more dismissive than they are effective. Trauma symptoms frequently hide under the guise of burnout. And 83% of our nurses report suffering from these symptoms (and more). What’s occurring below the surface is NOT burnout, it’s nurse-specific traumatization🚨 And I’m here to help! Drop “ASSESSMENT” in the comments & I’ll send you a link to a quick self-assessment to uncover the truth of your symptoms. It’s time to reveal what’s really occurring as a result of healthcare system inadequacies.
