What a fantastic night across the pond for our Summer Soirée! We celebrated the start of London Climate Week with the Dynamo community over cocktails and canapés. Our events thrive because of our members' support, and it was great to see new faces in the crowd, including BHP who recently joined our ever-expanding energy transition community. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next gathering! #LondonClimateActionWeek #EnergyTransition #NetworkingEvent #Sustainability

From Declaration to Action: Borough's Three-Year Climate Crusade Leads the Charge Towards Carbon Neutrality This month it’s three years since declaring a climate emergency, and we've been actively working to combat climate change ever since. Our 🌍 goals include becoming carbon neutral in Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council operations by December 2025 and achieving a net zero carbon borough by December 2030. Here's a summary of our progress: ⚡️ We've switched to 100% renewable electricity for our offices. 🚙 Electric vehicle charging points have been installed on our land and in our car parks, including creating Hampshire's first publicly owned charging hub. ⛽️ Our fleet now includes electric cars, and we've replaced diesel with low-carbon biofuel in various vehicles. ☀️ Solar panels adorn several council-owned buildings, and we've collaborated with other local authorities on Solar Together, a group-buying solar scheme for residents. 🛠️ Climate change toolkits have been launched to support action at various levels. 💷 We've awarded grants to community energy societies for zero-emission electricity projects and facilitated access to over £1 million in grants for sustainable initiatives. 💨 Energy efficiency improvements, such as a fresh-air cooling system at our Civic Offices, have led to significant cost savings. 🧍♀️ Environment Champions promote sustainable practices among staff, and idling vehicle fines have been introduced to combat air pollution. 🚲 A transport strategy that prioritises sustainable options like cycling and walking. Moving forward, we're supporting our Green Team to further drive carbon-cutting action, investing in solar panels for community centers, transitioning waste and recycling vehicles to low-carbon biofuel, and proposing sustainable housing policies in our Local Plan. Additionally, we're enhancing infrastructure for walking, cycling, and electric vehicles in collaboration with the county council. 🌍 See how we can help you fulfill your green ambitions 👇 https://lnkd.in/eTuaMAyF #localgovernment #climatechange #lovebasingstoke #climateaction #localgov #noplanetb

‘What if there was a system that has the power to say what our communities and infrastructure will be like in the future? That lays out where cycle routes go, what roads are built (or not built), what housing and community facilities are needed, where green corridors and nature reserves could be, where energy is going to be generated and transmitted, and more? In short, if there was a system laying out what the future looks like – and whether that future is one compatible with dealing with the climate crisis – wouldn’t it be worth putting everything we can into it?’ Kat Jones from APRS writes in our latest blog, Planning to save the planet, about Scotland's new planning system the National Planning Framework 4. She thinks it’s a system that could radically and effectively address the environmental and nature crises and make sure the transformational changes we need happen. One united vision, to bring reliable, decarbonized heating and cooling to the cities we serve, becoming a reality. Four years ago when Vicinity's journey in district energy began, the eSteam vision was not yet started. Then our CEO had a thought. What if we could do a heart transplant in our production facilities, remove fossil fuel fired equipment, and instead install industrial scaled heat pumps and eBoilers to instantly offer decarbonized heating to millions of square feet at once? This would allow customers connected to our system to instantly remove the carbon from their building's heating and cooling profile with zero change to the building infrastructure, removing current and future legislative risk. No upgrades to incoming electric service to the customer building. No retrofitting equipment and disrupting customer building operations. No delays or cost overruns in construction. In less than 3 years, we developed that thought into a reality, planning, designing, permitting, procuring, and now, installing in Boston with Philadelphia, Baltimore, and our other cities coming on fast! Don't wait, lead. #decarbonization #customerfocus #districtenergy #greenenergysolutions
Charm City can look forward to a more sustainable future as eSteam™, our award winning carbon-free energy product, makes its way towards #Baltimore!🌍 At Vicinity, we are stepping up our #decarbonization efforts in Baltimore to align with the Maryland legislature's Climate Solutions Now Act. The 2022 Act has set ambitious greenhouse gas reduction goals, aiming to achieve #netzero direct carbon emissions by 2040. As part of this initiative, owners of covered buildings must report their "direct greenhouse gas emissions" to the Maryland Department of the Environment beginning in 2025. Vicinity is proud to contribute to Maryland's sustainable energy and emissions reduction objectives. As we continue to make headway transforming Boston and Cambridge by implementing eSteam™ at our Kendall facility, we cannot wait to witness the groundbreaking improvements it will bring to Baltimore and all of the cities we operate in!🌱 #ClimateSolutionsNow #CleanEnergy
