Let’s embark on the BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund’s journey to drive the ecological transition. Presenting one of our early portfolio companies: NatureMetrics. NatureMetrics is a UK-based global provider of accurate and detailed biodiversity data and monitoring. Utilising its innovative digital platform, powered by environmental DNA (eDNA) technology, NatureMetrics enables companies to measure and manage their impact on nature on a large scale. The arrival of eDNA ‒ DNA that is collected from a variety of environmental samples such as soil, seawater, snow or air ‒ is a game-changer for the industry. Not only has NatureMetrics mastered the use of eDNA, but the start-up has had for many years the vision to develop an innovative digital platform to make this cutting-edge technology accessible to a broader audience. For us, that was one of the deciding factors in our selection process. We are proud to support NatureMetrics, a true cleantech gem, and look forward to accompanying the company all along its scale-up journey. “For those who move the world”: NatureMetrics: measuring biodiversity for a healthier planet https://lnkd.in/ey4gG7eS Dimple Patel Kat Bruce Solar Impulse Foundation, Olivier Warnan, Pauline Blanquart-Challine, Lucas GUILLET ♻️, David Bouchoucha, Alexandra S., Yann Lagalaye, Laura Wirsztel-Antonmattei, Etienne Valleix, Matthieu Léraudat

Green ideas aren't worth much. Those with green ideas promise change, but without execution, they are mere whispers in the wind. Ideas alone don't reduce carbon emissions or save endangered species. It's execution that matters. The gritty work of turning ideas into reality. It's the solar panels on rooftops, the reforestation projects on the ground, the circular economy businesses, that matter. So let's turn those ideas into action. We need more doers, not dreamers!

Exciting developments are unfolding across industries as we collectively strive towards achieving NetZero goals 🍃 Check out this video we created for The University of Manchester which dived into the topic of sustainability efforts within the events industry. This made us think about our industry and how there is room for so much improvement in this area. And as always, I think this needs to start at home so here are 3 simple things that we've implemented in an effort to become more sustainable 🌳 1. From using energy-efficient lighting to minimising waste on set, we're implementing eco-friendly production practices to reduce our carbon footprint. 2. We're partnering with a carbon offsetting initiative such as Play It Green | Certified B Corp to reduce the emissions generated during production, ensuring that our workforce has a positive impact on the environment. They're doing a great thing by helping people and businesses with tools to make a positive difference - plus, they're planting trees to help the environment by reducing carbon footprints. 3. By utilising remote collaboration tools and virtual production techniques, we're minimising the need for travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation. Although we're not perfect, we believe that even the smallest of actions can make a big difference - and we're eager to learn from others in the industry. How else could we improve our sustainable efforts - and can we take a leaf out of your book? 🙌

Last week, while on holiday in stunning and green Galicia, Spain, I came across an exciting event: "Beyond the Conference," an open public forum connected to the 10th International Degrowth Conference, happening in #Pontevedra. It was inspiring, and at the same time reassuring, to witness growth in the awareness of Earth's ecological boundaries and the importance of social justice in building a sustainable future for all. The urgency for action resonated further with the closing "Protestival" where passionate academics and activists shared powerful manifestos for #Degrowth, reminding us of our collective responsibility. Then, this week, we woke up with great news of Schneider Electric being named the most sustainable company by TIME among the world's largest and most influential companies. While true sustainability requires a huge systemic transformation and there is no such thing as "most sustainable" (as our planet is in ecological overshoot), this recognition highlights our company's commitment to #decarbonization and environmental impact reduction beyond our own operations. Indeed, it is our everyday job at Schneider Electric Sustainability Business to help our customers minimize their environmental impact across their entire processes and supply chains, supporting them on their decarbonization journey. While most large corporations may not be the ultimate model in a post-growth economy, Schneider Electric's expertise and dedication in #Sustainability, #Efficiency, and #Digitalization, answers the strong societal need for #Electrification, #Renewables, and #EnergyAccess for all. This, together with the growing scientific research and consensus for a Degrowth Economy, gives me more hope for a future where sustainability is more of a collective effort in the hands of all of us.
