Over 50 country representatives gathered in Tallinn, Estonia, at the end of May for the Agency’s spring 2024 bi-annual meeting. These meetings bring together Agency member country representatives to exchange on inclusive education in their countries and to discuss current and future Agency work. The meeting was opened by Liina Pöld, Deputy Secretary General for General Education and Youth Policy in Estonia. She described developments in the Estonian education system since it became a member of the Agency in 2004, including how working with the Agency inspired Estonia to write the principle of inclusive education into law in 2010. During the meeting, the Agency provided updates on on-going Agency activities, including the Thematic Country Cluster Activities (TCCA) for focused collaboration across six clusters. Representatives participated in exchange sessions on cross-sectoral cooperation, classroom support and the evaluation of inclusion. The African Union stated that, through knowledge, competencies, skills, innovation, and creativity, it is #education that will be essential to nurturing African core values and promote sustainable #development. How can we make it possible? By creating "the conditions that make it possible to access #education anytime and anywhere, fostering critical thinking and self-awareness, promoting the creation of open, inclusive communities" - as Giampaolo Silvestri, AVSI Secretary General, highlighted today at Global Partnership for Education event. Delighted to share insights from the recent EPP Congress in Bucharest: 1. Intergenerational Solidarity: Participated as a key speaker in a discussion on intergenerational solidarity within the EU, emphasising our shared duty towards creating a sustainable future for all generations. 3. Representing Malta: As the International Secretary with the Partit Nazzjonalista delegation, along with our leader Bernard Grech, we presented Malta's challenges and explored how the EU can further support Malta in environmental, infrastructure, and training initiatives. 4. Leadership Inspiration: Attended an address by Roberta Metsola President of the European Parliament. Her commitment to service and positive change is an inspiration for those dedicated to the European Union's progress. 🇲🇹🇪🇺 5. The EPP Lead Candidate: The Congress confirmed Ursula von der Leyen as the European People's Party lead candidate for another term as President of the European Commission. She has led the Commission through challenges such as the global pandemic and conflicts in Europe, emphasising unity and resilience. 🇪🇺 Now we look forward to keep EPP as the largest political party after next June elections.

I have agreed to run for the European Parliament elections, together with an excellent team for Latvijas Attīstībai, because: It is the right time for bold decisions to ensure security in Latvia and the European Union, to strengthen the defense capabilities of the European Union and to promote Ukraine's victory and integration into Europe. The European Union, as a union of values, must continue to advocate for a democratic, legal society in which, along with security, equal opportunities prevail for every citizen, regardless of age, gender, material security and mental health. I am for equal opportunities and quality education for everyone at any age. By promoting the development of innovative technologies and introducing new solutions, we can achieve an increase in the level of education, the recognition of Latvian school exams and the inclusion of Latvian universities in world university rankings. A prosperous and safe society is formed by a well-thought-out social policy, targeted support for social risk groups, reduction of addictions, eradication of violence, assistance in old age and improvement of palliative care should be provided. We need to achieve a thoughtful and result-oriented use of European Union funds in the creation of social policy. Let's build a Europe where future generations would like to live! For a prosperous and safe Latvia in a democratic Europe!

🤝We had the meetings with the Ministries of Education of Finland 🇫🇮and Estonia 🇪🇪 and I am glad that we had an opportunity to get acquainted with one of the best education systems 🧑🏫 not only in Europe 🇪🇺 but in the world as well. 🌍 We were also honored to visit different educational institutions 🎓and see how these systems work in practice. 📣That’s a common knowledge that Finland is the happest country 🌞 in the world and what I have realized is that, people in this country have the highest level of independence and trust from the government and vise verse. The system is based on trust and individuals have taken their responsibilities to the society. This is the key on which every culture and system should be based on. The responsibilities are not burden or something to be afraid of as it is perceived in many societies. This is the level of independence and the way of development. In the societies where people understand their social responsibilities everything can be based on the trust and it immediately reflects on the well being of the society. The finland is the one of the best examples and a lot of countries can learn from them how to build trust between communities and be happy. Special thanks to the European Training Foundation, EU, Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia for this great opportunity. I hope our cooperation will continue and bring benefits to our country. #moredecentralization #Finland #Estonia #Education #socialresponsibilities
A historic first for the European Union's first regional programme focusing on education in the Eastern Partnership region. From 17 to 20 September, education sector and ministry representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine met in Helsinki and Tallinn for a series of peer learning workshops aimed at bringing together the reform experiences of ETF partner countries with the systems of EU Member States, with a particular focus on developing the teacher profession. It was the first meeting of all five delegations from the countries covered by the programme. Finland and Estonia are considered to have some of the best-performing education systems in the world, and through high-level meetings, workshops and school visits, participants from the Eastern Partnership region had the opportunity to share their perspectives and find inspiration (or comparison) for their own reform agendas. This three-year (2024-2026) initiative aims to bring about positive, long-term and sustainable changes in education in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine by improving governance and strengthening capacity in education sector planning and management.
