“Our nation's seniors are at increased risk of developing new or worsening existing chronic diseases due to vulnerabilities with nutrition security. RDNs are uniquely qualified to identify and address these nutrition-related issues, including those related to access and equity as part of person-centered interventions.” — Academy President Livleen Gill, MBA, RDN, LDN, FAND The Academy commends the advance of the medically tailored meals pilot project in the House in the form of an amendment to H.R. 8816, and thanks Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (N.Y.) and Rep. Jim McGovern (Mass.) for their support. As a nutrition coordinator for Meals on Wheels, I can attest to the benefits and gratitude family and consumers have for meal delivery services. I look forward to this bill advancing to the Senate
Livleen Gill, MBA, RDN, LDN, FAND, Great program!! It would be great to have an increase in hospitals that are screening for food insecurity/availablity issues during the discharge process and for proactive programs to be put in place to support adequate post-discharge nutrition!
Please work with the federal government to make sure RDs are a billable service in all FQHCs. Please and thank you. 🙏
so the amendment for the medically tailored meals was tacked on to another motion, and if that other motion passes, so does the pilot project? What is HR 8816 about, is it something that AND feels we should support to get our goal of Congressionally supported medically tailored meals?
