The Future of Last-Mile Delivery is Electric! Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword—it's a driving force behind how some of the world's biggest companies are rethinking last-mile delivery. As they transition to electric vehicles (EVs), they're not only setting ambitious goals but also making significant strides in reducing their carbon footprints. Here's a quick look at how some of the industry leaders are making this happen: - Amazon is aiming for 100,000 EVs by 2030, with 10,000 already rolling out by 2025. - UPS plans to electrify 40% of its ground fleet by 2025, with over 10,000 EVs already on order. - DHL Express is pushing for 60% of its last-mile fleet to be electric by 2030, with 20,000+ e-vehicles already in operation. - FedEx is working towards a fully electric parcel pickup and delivery fleet by 2040, with 50% of the fleet electrified by 2025. - IKEA wants 100% of its home deliveries in key markets to be electric by 2025, and they’re rapidly expanding their fleet to make it happen. - Walmart is committed to electrifying its entire vehicle fleet by 2040 and is investing heavily in renewable energy. - Royal Mail is on track to have 100% of its 41,000+ vehicle fleet electric by 2040, with many urban areas already seeing EVs in action. - DPD Group is targeting 100% emission-free deliveries in 225 major European cities by 2025. - PostNL is focused on making all deliveries in the Benelux region emission-free by 2030, with serious investments in EVs and sustainable logistics. These companies aren't just talking the talk—they're walking the walk by taking concrete steps to transform their operations and lead the charge toward a greener, more sustainable future. The shift to electric vehicles in last-mile delivery is not just about hitting targets; it’s about making a real impact on our planet. 🌍⚡ #Sustainability #ElectricVehicles #LastMileDelivery #GreenLogistics

Great write up in Forbes by Jennifer Dungs. Love the Coaster Cycles OG UPS cargo bike shown. The key takeaway from this study: Logistics providers can finally stop worrying and love the electric cargo bike. Micromobility is more than a soft solution to be trotted out for the sake of burnishing a sustainable image. It is also a heavy hitter in terms of economic benefit— benefits that grow substantially when electric cargo bikes make up most of the fleet, rather than a small percentage of it. And as companies wrestle with the transition to electric trucks, in part due to high upfront costs and lack of supply, electric cargo bikes are looking like the most practical solution to get fleets electrified fast. https://lnkd.in/g8qUqATS

Electric vehicles offer long-term financial advantages that make them an attractive option for fleet management, and Drivalia is at the forefront of this transition. One of the most notable benefits is the lower cost of electricity compared to conventional fuels. Fuel prices fluctuate, creating uncertainty in budgeting for fuel expenses. In contrast, electricity remains a more stable and affordable energy source. In Ireland, the cost per kilometre for an EV is approximately €0.02, compared to €0.08 for a diesel vehicle. This stability in energy costs allows businesses to manage their operating expenses more effectively. Moreover, EVs offer substantial reductions in maintenance costs due to their fewer mechanical components, resulting in less wear and tear and fewer repairs. This not only reduces maintenance expenses but also minimises vehicle downtime, ensuring fleet operations remain efficient and cost-effective. Businesses can benefit from government incentives designed to promote the adoption of EVs to make more cost savings. These incentives, which include tax credits, grants, and rebates, can significantly reduce the initial investment required to purchase EVs. When considering the total cost of ownership, including fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and financial incentives, the long-term financial benefits of electric fleet management are compelling, making it a prudent investment for businesses. Drivalia is committed to democratising green mobility, aiming for 80% of its fleet to be green by 2030. This commitment, combined with the expanding infrastructure of charging stations across the country, positions Drivalia as a leader in sustainable fleet management in Ireland. I’m always happy to speak about how switching to an electric fleet can support your business goals so please feel free to message! #driveelectric #planetmobility #sustainabledriving

Yet another study proving that e-cargobikes represent a real economic benefit and that they deserve more than just 'greenwashing' the image of the Parcel Delivery Companies. 🌳 But the biggest driver for this switch has to be the city! Full article 👇 The key takeaway from this study: -80% reduction in emissions from last-mile logistics by implementing cargo bikes in the fleet. -A fleet with 80% e-cargo bikes operating in the same city could reduce costs, 1.8% today, and a whopping 14% by 2030. -Electric cargo bikes are currently 60% cheaper to lease than electric vans You can read the article in full here: https://lnkd.in/g_kudXNu #cyclelogistics #ciclologistica #zeroemission #semco2 #camaramunicipaldoporto #camaramunicipaldematosinhos #cidadesparaviver #cidadessustentaveis #sustainabledeliveries #micromobility #mobilidadesuave #logistics #urbanmobility #lastmiledelivery #firstmilepickup
