The U.S. Army is leveraging Project Convergence to explore the aerial tier network extension, using high-altitude drones like the K1000ULE from Kraus to enhance connectivity and network robustness, especially in challenging environments like the Asia-Pacific region's dense foliage. This initiative, part of the broader Combined Joint All-Domain and Control (CJADC2) effort, aims to ensure seamless communication across all branches of the U.S. military and international partners, enhancing decision-making capabilities. The project has demonstrated success in extending network coverage over natural barriers, such as mountain ranges, and is set to undergo further testing in phase two of the Project Convergence Capstone 4 experiment at the National Training Center in California. This technology not only improves operational efficiency but also significantly reduces the risks to soldiers by minimizing the need to physically relocate to vulnerable positions for network extension. The ongoing experimentation and future plans with units like the 101st Airborne Division will continue to refine and expand the application of this network extension technology, showcasing the Army's commitment to innovation and tactical advantage. #army #projectconvergence #aerialtiernetwork #droneconnectivity #cjadc2 #k1000ule #networkextension #tacticalcommunications #militaryinnovation #signaturemanagement Source- https://lnkd.in/gSUvCYv9

Important article about the future of war and the evolution of the National Training Center by MG Taylor.
"Everything from ubiquitous commercial satellite technology to handheld drones and sensors has rendered the battlefield transparent to any competent adversary." The war in Ukraine is giving a glimpse of the type of battlefield the US Army must be prepared to fight and win on. Major General Curt Taylor, commanding general of the National Training Center, explains how that is shaping the way Army units train at NTC.

Great article breaking down the 4 LOEs at NTC. The quote, "We cannot stop the enemy from detecting us, but we can stop him from understanding us," did stick out to me. Throughout any significant conflict, information about the movements of forces or their location always existed either in a human or information network. It was a matter of how long that information traveled to the right decision maker or individual to make sense of it, then understand what that information meant to that force, and make a decision off that information and move their forces to gain an advantage or prevent the other force from surprising them. The distance between when information is collected, analyzed, and acted on is an area we can always take advantage of in the current and future operational environments. Even with the integration of AI, it is still a matter of an adversary understanding intent. If they cannot understand our purpose, we can maintain a position of relative advantage. We must recognize the importance of the human domain and narrative space in the current and future OE. https://lnkd.in/gk34yFGY

🇦🇺🤩 Austal has finalized the sea acceptance and endurance trials of the Royal Australian Navy’s Sentinel autonomous patrol vessel. Held off the coast of Western Australia, the trials involved simultaneous autonomy and remote-controlled tests of the ship using Advanced Maritime Autonomy software developed by Greenroom Robotics Pty Ltd. “Looking ahead, we are excited about the potential opportunities to work with the Navy to further advance the autonomous technology demonstrated during the trial; on projects such as the Large Optionally Crewed Surface Vessels (LOSV), recently announced by the Australian Government as part of the Surface Combatant Fleet Review,” Austal Limited CEO Paddy Gregg stated. #military #army #militarytech #defensetech #technology #defense #defence #defenseindustry #defenceindustry #maritimedefence #naval #navy #austal #austalaustralia #evolvedcapeclass #patrolboats #ausnavy #australia #autonomous

IDE and Marshall Land Systems are proud to be selected by the British MoD to attend and exhibit at the Exploitation Event of the “Army Warfighting Experiment: Urban Series 2022-24, Sustain & Protect”, on coming Wednesday, February’s 22nd. In November last year, an #IDE #HEPS Tactical Hybrid Generator was successfully deployed to the final phase of #AWE22 S&P to deliver effective power sustainment for #Unmanned Systems Operations, support Human-Machine Teaming (#HMT) and relieve the #Logistical burden. On the following video, Theodoros Dionysopoulos (Business Unit Director, Hybrid Power Systems) comments on the importance of the experimentation -under the expected operational conditions- for the user and the industry. The forthcoming event will brief top military leaders and British Army stakeholders about the lessons learnt from the experimentation, and show how urban operations are optimised through the cutting-edge technologies that were analysed. #ArmyExperimentation #britisharmy #defencecapability #hybridpowersystems #greenenergy https://lnkd.in/dWvpUusE

The US National Training Center (NTC) is racing to update collective training to reflect ‘lessons learned’ on the battlefield in Ukraine. This insightful article from Curt Taylor of the Modern War Institute at West Point highlights the scale and pace of change needed for the NTC to achieve it’s goal of ensuring US forces “win the first battle of the next war.” The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, fighting as the opposing force (OPFOR) at NTC, is adopting a range of new tactics and capabilities to more accurately reflect current and evolving threats. These are designed to better prepare US forces visiting the NTC for the realities recently experienced by Ukrainian forces. For example, the OPFOR has recently been fielded with over one hundred TS-M800 quadcopter drones. The amount of attention, effort and resources invested in continuously devising and implementing changes in OPFOR capability for these kinds of conventional collective exercises is impressive. I suspect the costs and practical constraints of doing this will increasingly be a factor that drives rapid adoption of Synthetic Collective Training Environments, either operating entirely virtually, or in a hybrid mode combining a mixture of real and simulated battlespace elements. Digital synthetic environments offer speed of implementation, safety, flexibility and economy, creating scope for accelerating the process of doctrine development through agile wargaming. Furthermore the same approaches can be used to scaffold the learning process when trialling new approaches before these are actually applied in conventional field-based collective exercise serials. #defensetraining #defencetechnology #defenceinnovation #defence #simulation #training
