Regulations based on human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) approach have been emphasized as particularly promising. The EU and European member states have taken a pioneering role in this new trend. For instance, the EU has recently agreed upon its regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR) and is on the verge to adopt a directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD). This session aims to enhance our understanding of what this development mean for Swedish stakeholders by addressing the following questions: 1) What are the potential and limitations of HREDD regulations for fostering more sustainable global supply chains; 2) What conditions and complementary measures are needed; 3) How can Swedish actors contribute to the implementation of HREDD? Here my last publication on Social Sciences MDPI 🌱 A quasi-historical approach on the major steps of the EU–Mercosur FTA. The study underlines how #environmental and #sustainability issues are at the core of the European policies; thus, themes such as deforestation and pesticides could be a dealbreaker in the ratification of the agreement. For the EU, the FTA with Mercosur could mark a new step in the race towards it being a new “global standard” for sustainability and production. Hope you'll enjoy the reading! #europeanpolicies #mercosur

UNTAD explores the impact of Voluntary Sustainability Standards on a range of social, economic and environmental indicators Voluntary sustainability standards (VSS) diffuse their standards along global value chains, which play an important role in international trade. More than 80 per cent of world trade now occurs within these value chains. UN Trade and Development’s Voluntary Sustainability Standards’ Academic Advisory Council Roundtables, held in February, May and June 2021, debated VSS' role in international trade. The report on these dialogues opens with a bold claim: “There will be no meaningful progress trying to resolve climate change and degradation of global ecosystems without also addressing social equity and the associated economic concerns.” The Roundtables were jointly organized by the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS) and EVIDENSIA, in collaboration with the KU Leuven Center for Global Governance. ______________________________ UN Conference on Trade and Development (2022). Environmental sustainability is a key topic in international trade, especially with the growing concern over the environmental impact of agricultural support policies. It's essential to grasp the diversity of natural environments and agricultural systems to truly understand environmental sustainability. The article below, posted by the Australian Government, and written by Alistair Read, Jasmine Rollan, Christian Creed, and James Fell, showcases how important it is to develop measurements that account for differences between countries. In summary, it demonstrates that Australia has a strong sustainability standing in contrast to other countries. #Environment #Sustainability #InternationalTrade

Anticipating 'Circular Choices - Forging a Sustainable EU Bioeconomy' at the upcoming Cepi conference is quite exciting. This session stands out to me in bridging the gap between the practical realities of the industry and the ambitious political objectives. It's essential to highlight that environmentally sound practices should not only be beneficial for the planet but also offer tangible advantages for businesses.

Co-founder at Impact Hub Melbourne, building place-based initiatives toward sustainable regeneration for local and global impact.
Since 2016, I've been on an incredible journey, weaving Regenerative Design and Development (RDD) into my sustainable low carbon built environment research starting with Bill Reed. My dedication to this transformative approach led me to become a Regenerative Practitioner with the Regenesis Institute with Pamela Mang, Joel Glanzberg, Alana Marsh, Drika & Laura Hunt last year—a life changing experience and true honor and privilege. Thereafter, I’ve continued exploring Daniel Christian Wahl’s work on Regenerative Cultures and literally all public work by Carol Sanford on Regenerative Business, Life, Indirect Work, etc. The recent spotlight on Regenerative Design and Development (RDD) presents a unique opportunity for us to delve into its rich history and evolution since the 1990s. While the term "regenerative" has gained popularity in recent years, its roots evolved from ancient Socratic philosophies, prehistoric indigenous knowledge, and communal practices. As we embrace Regenerative Design and Development (RDD) in the modern era, it rightfully takes center stage as a powerful tool for humanity. This collective opportunity urges us to become responsible stewards of our planet and recognize our interconnectedness with Earth's living systems. By embracing RDD, we can avoid self-destruction and pave the way for a thriving, sustainable future for all. “🇧🇪 As part of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a high level event on Regenerative Development and Design (RDD) took place in April 2024. 🍃 RDD is a discipline to elevate governance, innovation and planetary health. Based on a holistic worldview, including humans and economies as an intrinsic part of nature. It integrates aspects of ancient Indigenous knowledge and Eastern philosophical and spiritual wisdom traditions with the latest insights from modern Western science. 🇪🇺 The study explores the concept of Regenerative Development and Design and analyzes the value added it can bring to current approaches of sustainability and EU environmental legislations.” The groundswell of interest in RDD is undeniable, yet this path requires introspection and dedication as we challenge our own beliefs and actions to shape a better world. I'm committed to this collective journey, supporting and collaborating with others who share a passion for embracing uncomfortable growth and intentional provocation to co-create a better future. I encourage everyone interested or just curious about regenerative practice to join me in exploring the rich history and development of RDD, and together, let's make the changes we desperately need at home, work, in our communities, businesses, economic systems and local environments. Are you ready to get started? ➡️Read the full study to begin your journey: https://lnkd.in/e6XHxP49 I’m curious what regeneration & RDD means to others. Please comment with your perspective, questions, reflections and insights.
