🌍 Transforming Education in Eastern Partnership Countries: A Day with Timo Kuusela With nearly three decades at the European Training Foundation, Timo Kuusela has been a key figure in improving education. His expertise and diplomatic approach have fostered collaborations between governments, employers, and international organisations, leading to groundbreaking reforms in vocational education and training. Timo is now managing a major new ETF project at the request of the European Commission, starting with a diagnostic assessment of the education systems in Eastern Partnership countries (#Armenia, #Azerbaijan, #Georgia, #Moldova and #Ukraine). “We have a methodology”, he says, “that covers the entire system from pre-school to higher education. This Rapid Education Diagnosis looks at specific aspects. The first is what and where are inequalities. Kenya Secures KES.13 Billion From China to Equip 70 TVETs President William Ruto announced a generous offer from the Chinese government, amounting to Kes.13 billion, aimed at equipping Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions with cutting-edge technology. During the TVT@100 Centenary Celebrations at Nyeri National Polytechnic, President Ruto revealed the investment due to his recent visit to China, allocating the funds to modernize 70 TVET institutions nationwide. This move is part of the government's broader strategy to fortify technical and vocational education, amplifying the country's capability to provide practical and impactful training. With the government's Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) at the forefront, this initiative underscores a commitment to nurturing the potential of young Kenyans, fostering economic growth, and preparing the workforce for the global labor market. In the interests of promoting inclusive dialogue and collaboration between the Government and think tanks in shaping public policy, Ponlok Chomnes would like to share the summary of discussions and high-level statements on how to improve the resilience of the education sector in Cambodia. On March 19, Egor Yablokov had the privilege of meeting with the leadership team of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Heading the team from the Ministry was the First Deputy Minister, Komiljon Karimov. During the meeting, we discussed E-Quadrat Science & Education's longstanding support for the higher education sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Over the years, we have provided valuable insights, analytical reports, organized events, collaborated with local experts, and introduced world's best practices into the operations of higher education institutions and government bodies. Given the ambitious goals outlined in the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan for the entire higher education sector, including the establishment of world-class universities in the country, the E-Quadrat team is enthusiastic about contributing its expertise, knowledge, data, and insights to help achieve these targets. To this end, the Ministry and E-Quadrat, along with local and international experts, will collaborate to develop an evidence-based roadmap for the transformation of Uzbekistani higher education institutions into world-class universities. I will be in TOM MBOYA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE this week for the 5th Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) biennial 2023 Conference. This year's conference theme will be Revitalizing the Evidence Community for Kenya’s Education. This theme puts to centrality the members of this community – government and all those who need evidence to make decisions. It brings on board the academia in and out of the University whose role is to avail evidence in accessible formats and those that lie in between, teachers, members of the civil society, and parents. In pursuit of this aim, this conference seeks to achieve four objectives: 1. Deepening understanding of the political economy of evidence use. 2. Applying evidence to inform policy formulation, review, and implementation. 3. Applying evidence to explore and showcase solutions to the challenges of education in practice. 4.
