Granerud , Head of Network planning at St1 Nordic Oy Shell Some of the insights shared: From Erik on Norway: - 83% - EV share of new passenger car sales Aug 2023 - 100% - Government target for 2025 - 11% - EV share of new Heavy goods vehicles sales 2022 - 106 - available to buy EV car models in 2022 - 12 - available cars in 2012 - 23% - share of EV passenger cars on the road - 37% in the largest city of Oslo - 40% in the 2nd largest city of Bergen - 1.2% - share of EV heavy duty vehicles on the road - 60% - households that only have EV cars in their household - 76% of fast charging stations are NOT at gas stations (instead at supermarkets, IKEA, Hotels, …) - 80% of charging done at home - >20 - number of charge point operators with different offers, apps, pricing models, … From Eugen on Germany: - 5%-10% - average 24h time utilisation of chargers (20%-30% on motorway) - 30 minutes down to 15-20 minutes - average charging time decrease from 2023 to 2030. From Marius and Bård on Norway - -10% - Fuel volume sold 2022 vs peak year 2016 From everything we heard and saw, it leaves one question open: when will we see the decline in number of petrol stations because of the move to charging? Consider for a second a world where car ownership becomes unfashionable, and tens of millions of people opt for car-sharing instead. A quiet wave of behavioural change is already unfolding before our eyes. (We just can't see it yet.) China's electric vehicle (EV) market will be the trigger to turn this change into a tsunami. The world's cheapest, fully functional EV is currently the China-manufactured 'Changli', which retails at just USD1,200. (Re-read that number - there are no zeros missing.) A more viable mass-market alternative is BYD's Seagull, which retails at USD11,000 and offers a range of over 400km/250 miles. With the plummeting prices of electric vehicles, more and more younger drivers are questioning why they'd ever own a car. Per the article linked below, the global car sharing market is set to explode, reaching $15.4 billion by 2028 and attracting nearly 65 million users. What's interesting is how urbanisation and environmental concerns are driving this shift: people are realising they don't need the hassle of owning a car when they can just share one. Another interesting data point is the gender and age divide: in Europe, car sharing is dominated by men, while in Canada, more women are sharing cars than men. It's an exciting trend to watch because the Sharing Economy extends far beyond cars - most notably into the private parking space in the suburbs of major cities, from where most cars will begin their first journey of the day. Car sharing is not without its security+access+parking challenges. Fortunately, KERB has got those three covered. Are (vegetarian) Köttbullar and eMobility a good match? (Spoiler: I'd say yes, but...) 🌱⚡️ It's Saturday morning, since the little one has grown, we need to buy a new bed for him. Where should we go? Our choice: IKEA. Why? It's just a no brainer. Besides lots of clever Scandinavian design ideas, kid friendly exhibition areas and an in-house restaurant, they also offer free #EVcharging on their parking area. In theory it should be easy: park, plug in your #EV, charge, shop, eat, return, unplug - in reality we had to wait for a while until a charging point became available, as the four available EV parking spaces where just not enough to meet the demand. Dear Ikea-team, it's really great that you offer free EV charging! But, in line with a raising number of #ElectricVehicle drivers, also the number of available charging points needs to increase accordingly. What would be my recommendation from a customer and private EV driver perspective? For an even better #CustomerExperience, I'd recommend to install more #EVchargers and - in case you target a return of investment - to partner up with one of many eMobility service providers (#MSP) available in Germany. What's the point of collaborating with an eMSP? They take your end-user management to the next level, by providing a seamless charging experience and access to a vast charging network across EU based on a pay-per-use model. Monta, Spirii, Elli - A Brand of the Volkswagen Group or CHARGE NOW are just a few well-known charging partners that offer #eRoaming services (for further details see the eMobility Excellence report from June 2023: https://lnkd.in/dWMMxxfY). In summary, big kudos to IKEA for supporting the transition to #ElectricVehicles. As a next step, more #ChargingPoints and smart user management are required to further improve the #CX.

🚴📦 Today kicks off the first day of the popular #AmazonPrimeDay sale (consume responsibly!), which makes for a timely reminder that all delivery service providers should be encouraged to adopt electric transport in their Last Mile Delivery operations, which can account for **up to 50% of a package's carbon footprint**. Replacing large vans with more compact options like cargo bikes are not only exponentially cleaner for the environment, but they also reduce traffic congestion on city streets, are more efficient in their delivery rates, and are safer for both cyclists and pedestrians. Another cool, and underutilized, benefit of employing electric cargo bikes for Last Mile Delivery is that solar can be integrated into their flat surfaces. And new PV module designs and encapsulant materials – like those developed by Berlin’s OPES Solutions – mean that light and flexible modules can be attached to flat surfaces on the bike, charging the battery.
