📚Today is International #EducationDay! 🙌🏽 Today and always, we affirm our commitment to #education as one of our three key areas of work. ➡️ Education is an essential component across all of our projects, including our Gender-Migration Index (GMI). The GMI is based on an indicator system that ensures gender-responsiveness and migrant-inclusion in benchmarking policy, particularly in regards to monitoring and evaluation. ✨ Most recently, we used the GMI to assess gender-responsiveness in the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR) and its implementation through pledges - education formed a focus policy area. 🗣 Diana Muresan, our Research and Advocacy Fellow, who conducted the analysis shares: "Education is enhanced by tools that facilitate knowledge growth. The Gender Migration Index (GMI) does this by revealing gaps in gender-responsiveness in policy and by providing solutions in addressing gender inequities such as in refugee education." 🆕 Read more about this in our Guidance Note: Spotlight Education. #migration #gender #justice

Gender and Child Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister is also tasked with leading the National Policy on Gender and Development which recognises youth as a special interest group and the National Child Policy. Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty require greater youth participation and leadership. Yet, it calls for something more far-reaching in the paradigm of development. In our context, young women under the age of 35 are disproportionately the victims of sexual violence. The National Strategic Action Plan on Gender-based Violence and Sexual Violence, 2023-2027 includes youth engagement for a peaceful present and future in T&T. The Youth-Child-Gender Nexus of Development is a recognition that all social and economic development is premised on what we invest in youth and children. The protection of human rights, elderly care, menstrual equity, quality education and healthy social attitudes begin with youth and children. Youth and children are not just beneficiaries or decision-makers in development – rather, they are an essential category for investment to construct national development and the quality of life in national development and the global community. https://lnkd.in/eusmsrYd
