It's been almost a year since I stopped my job search and accepted my offer to The Data School New York. Here are a few things I learned: 1. There is never a right time to start applying for jobs. My job hunt lasted 6 months, but it took over a month of applying to land my first interview. 2. Figure out what you want from your position. I was applying for everything and anything because I wanted a job, but honestly, it wouldn't have been what I wanted. I knew I wanted to be in a company/space where I would be working with multiple analysts and had open access to mentorship. A lot of the 'entry-level' work I applied to had me beginning or taking over a single analyst position. 3. Keep learning and refining your skills. The job search is exhausting and can take up a good portion of your day. However, don't let it stop your learning! 4. Build a strong network. You never know what opportunities can come just by actively seeking connection with others. (There is a respectful way of doing this, don't just ask for referrals or job offers!) Everyone is terrified of a coffee chat, but they helped guide me and even brought up a few job referrals along the way. 5. Share your experience and teach others! Even if you don't have a large network or following, your contribution to social platforms can aid your job search! The first job offer I received was based entirely on my LinkedIn profile, so you never know what will get the attention of a potential employer. 6. Be kind to yourself. The job hunt is exhausting, and at times dehumanizing, respect yourself and your boundaries. If you need to stop applying for a week and re-evaluate your application process that is OKAY. #dataanalytics #dataanalyst #entrylevel #jobhunt

As a recent postgraduate student in data science, I have applied for over 100 jobs in the UK in the nine months since I graduated. I have been invited for ten or more interviews, but as I get to the final round, I frequently hear the phrases "we found another candidate whose educational or work experience is more aligned to the posted job role" or "due to lack of experience, we cannot hire you." I do not understand how someone can expect experience if they are applying for entry-level positions.

HAPPY MONDAY Job Search Kit for this week 1. Don’t be too desperate- [Desperations results into frustration]- Take the job search easy and smart 2. Start Small and Smart- Start with lower positions and Small organisations- You will learn more in small organisations than big organisations 3. Apply only to Adds you’re qualified for. Don’t assume you’re qualified for everything. Just because you did Data Analysis as subject or Course doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a Data Scientist! Rejection hurts. 4. Have a professional CV ready. Tailor your CV to every job application and it should be professional. Error free [invest in paying someone to do it for you] 5. Professional connection. In a job search if you’re an introvert, you will remain unemployed. Be open. Speak out that you’re on the market. Connect with potential employer and beetle with colleagues to learn few Dos and Don’t in the corporate world. #JobsSearch #Careers Via_@_Rarge_Trioz

Here's how to land your dream job in 5 simple steps 👇🏻 1️⃣ Define Exactly What You Are Looking For: In other words, be specific about the role - what is the job title? 2️⃣ Complete a Skill Gap Analysis: Do you have all the skills you need? If not, what's missing? 3️⃣ Close The Gap: if there is something key missing, like a specific certification, make sure you work on that before applying. 4️⃣ Showcase Your Expertise: rewrite your CV and LinkedIn profile, based on your transferable skills that are most desirable for this new job. 5️⃣ Spread The Word: it's time to get in touch with anyone you know who might help you and to reach out to recruiters who work on the specific type of role you are looking for. I just had a call with a prospect and she was looking to get a data analyst role. Even though we won't be working together, as there is little value I can add to her journey, her action points following our call were clear and they got her unstuck - she now knows clearly how to go about getting her new job! So, if the above was useful, who knows how much value I can add to you with a quick chat? - DM me if you'd like some tailored and specific advice 🙋🏻♀️ #careercoaching #careercoach
