Architecture isn’t just about creating structures; it’s about envisioning spaces that inspire, function, and endure. But how do you carve out a niche in such a complex, competitive field? Drawing from the audacious spirit of the Impressionists, who reshaped art despite initial resistance, here are seven transformative lessons for young architects ready to build not just buildings, but also a legacy.

Genius Loci: Bridging the Gap Between Architects and Architecture Are we truly designing the world poorly? Or are we simply missing a fundamental dimension? In a world increasingly disconnected from nature, Janine Benyus’s words resonate: "The people who design our world usually never take a biology class." This prompts us to question: Can we, as architects, learn from nature's wisdom? From the timeless beauty of Louis Kahn's modernist masterpieces to the innovative biomimicry of Michael Pawlyn, we explore diverse approaches to architecture. Can we merge the wisdom of the past with the innovation of the future? How can we create spaces that are both sustainable and inspiring? What role does nature play in shaping our built environment? Let's discuss it! Share your thoughts on the future of architecture and how we can bridge the gap between design and the natural world. #architecture #design #sustainability #biomimicry #geniusloci #LouisKahn #MichaelPawlyn #urbanplanning #futureofarchitecture

I am a huge fan of the RIBA plan of work! (Keen to be educated about the #australianarchitecture equal!) The quality of advise and research is also outstanding! RIBA have this month released an overlay to this plan for #smartbuildings or #iot to those Project stages. Actionable, easy to use - gold! Key takeaways - start early! Know what you want and don't want. For #technology people like me, this is a halleluyah moment! So obvious. Also essential that smart is funded if it's really important to you. Plan for success. Plan for better people, financial, environmental outcomes! The image below to me is a reminder that smarts growing at home (aka: #matter!) - it's not acceptable to miss out on this in your Buildings and Public Places!

Top 3 takeaways from the Costa Rica Investments June Webinar with Juan Diego Cardenas about design and architecture 1) Importance of Bioclimatic Design: Incorporating passive design strategies like optimal orientation, cross ventilation, and using materials that naturally regulate temperature is crucial for building sustainable and comfortable homes in Costa Rica's diverse climates. 2) Selecting the Right Architect: Finding an architect whose design language aligns with your vision is essential. Utilize platforms like Instagram and Google to review portfolios and ensure clear communication and trust throughout the project. 3) Managing Budget and Expectations: Architectural fees typically account for 5% of the project budget. It's vital to factor in additional costs like permitting and inspections and ensure the project size meets your actual needs to avoid budget overruns. Missed the webinar? New York City | Architects can see the future “The new president of the American Institute of Architects, Kimberly Dowdell, says that when it comes to improving cities, “architects can see the future." 'We have to talk about the value of practicing architecture, but also we have to promote that value within the client community and help them understand what we’re doing, how it’s saving them money, how it’s creating value' Source: Bloomberg Image: 'A Walking city by Archigram' https://lnkd.in/edP4mfay #newyork #architecture #architecturedesign
