👀 The Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific has contracted terrestrial imaging company Planet to monitor ships in “key areas of interest” in the Pacific. Throughout the “detection and monitoring” effort, the company will leverage its proprietary PlanetScope and SkySat constellations to collect information across the region. “Planet possesses a unique broad area imagery collection of land and ocean areas in the Indo-Pacific, so it's exciting for us to contribute that unique capability to provide maritime insights in support of the SeaVision mission,” Planet Federal General Manager Jon Powers said. 🙁 While I definitely do NOT agree with US Army's proposal to create its own Space Force, I certainly understand their rationale for wanting to do so. USAF and US Space Force have been "shackled" to and forced to operate from the same budget dollars. That's what is ludicrus about this whole sorry situation. AND, BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE are equally guilty for allowing this to happen and continue for so many years. And, adding insult to injury...our National Recon Office (NRO) takes an additional 20% from that same combined budget which is listed as "Non Blue". How are two major military services supposed to operate and complete their vitally important missions...with a PATHETIC 1% increase in their budget year-over-year?????? And, AGAIN....it would make more sense for US Army to surrender those "excess" budget $$ to US Space Force allowing them to perform and meet US Army's expectations...rather than US Army "reinventing the wheel" and developing its own Space force.
